Win Every Game on Steam

That's right--every game. Also, tons of stuff on sale!

Steam is synonymous with two things: being the largest PC gaming digital distribution portal and putting on crazy sales. Though some items have seen some deep discounts between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the real sales have just begun today. You can find prices slashed across the board; for those adventurous types, purchasing an entire publisher’s catalogue of games is a simple click away, at prices that seem almost criminal. But that’s not all that Valve has in store for PC gamers looking for some cheap deals. Steam members can participate in a type of Alternate Reality Game (ARG) to win some sweet prizes.

Called the “Great Gift Pile,” gamers can participate in a handful of objectives each day for the chance to win gifts or coal. Gifts can be full games or special coupons, many of which can be redeemed starting January 2, which is when the promotion ends. Coal, normally not something to be sought after, is actually pretty handy here. Players can turn 7 pieces of coal into a single gift, or hold on to them, as they can be used to enter into the drawing for the Grand Prize: every game on Steam. Yes, you read that correctly: Every. Game. On. Steam.

So how do you earn gifts and coal? You’ll have to do certain things on Steam each day. These can be as simple as looking at things on the site, or playing particular games and earning a specific achievement. Cleverly, these games are also discounted heavily, just in case you would like to buy a game to earn a chance at that grand prize. Gifts and coal can be traded or gifted to other people on Steam, so if you have a friend that isn’t too interested, maybe you can get them to part with any items they have.

The contest runs from today until December 31, so check out Steam daily to see what your objectives are. Good Luck!
