The Old Republic Gets New Content With Update 1.1

New Flashpoints, bug fixes, and more. Plus, get a rare title for a limited time.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has had a pretty successful launch, but BioWare is not resting on their laurels. The team has been hard at work on new content, server upgrades, and bug fixes. The first major patch, 1.1, has just gone live, and there’s some interesting content to go along with it.

Beyond the expected bug eliminations and stability upgrades, Update 1.1 adds a brand new Flashpoint for high level players. Flashpoints, for the uninitiated, are Heroic class quests that usually have a heavy story component to them. Players are encouraged to group up for these missions, as they are much more challenging than the class story missions.

The new Flashpoint is called Kaon Under Siege, and deals with the zombie virus-like Rakghoul. These creatures first appeared in Knights of the Old Republic, and have since gone on to be featured in the comic series and novels. Players need to help a group of survivors while trying to find the source of the outbreak.

There’s also a new Operation, which is a mission designed for large groups of players. Karagga’s Palace Part II is a continuation of a previous Operation, and involves one of the Hutts. New weapons and armor are the prizes here, with better rewards for completing the mission’s hard mode.

Also, for a limited time, players of SWTOR have a chance of getting a rare title for all of their characters. Titles are usually earned for completing specific quests in the game, but the Founder title will be given to all players that buy the game before March 18. This applies to any existing players, obviously, but the title is not given until you have been billed for one month of game time. Once that happens, you should get an in-game mail with a Founder’s Medal attached. Using this medal gives the title to your character, and can be applied to any characters made on that account moving forward.
