Rumor: Kinect-Enabled Internet Explorer Coming to Xbox 360

Microsoft to finally catch up to.. the Wii? Wait a second...

While people have speculated on Internet Explorer support being added to the Xbox 360, only recently has a rumor surfaced that brings any credibility to the discussion.  While we don’t have news of an integration plan, or an official announcement from Microsoft, it seems that IE’s appearance on your 360 dashboard is imminent.

The reports state that the version that will be available will be a modified take on Internet Explorer 9, and it will integrate itself with the already available Bing search, which currently looks for media results.  It also states that it will support Kinect for voice search (again using Bing) and the established gesture navigation controls Kinect users are already familiar with.  While Kinect will not be required to use the browser, the software will be tuned first and foremost with support of that peripheral in mind.

Is this something that interests you?  Does the prospect of browsing the web from your Xbox add any value to the Xbox Live service?  How do you feel about Kinect integration?  Let us know in the comments below!

Frowning, I destroyed the coupling and repeated the task with Doktor telling me exactly where to go and what to do. It made me realize just how much game design has changed in recent years, and what needs to be done to combat the need for constant hand holding that game designers have developed.
