Splinter Cell: Conviction May See PlayStation 3 Release

Though the team at Ubisoft Montreal have made it clear that it isn't coming, the CEO has some different thoughts.

PlayStation 3 owners may have been disappointed this past E3 when Ubisoft demoed their upcoming title Splinter Cell: Conviction. Featuring a completely updated style and feature set, the title is currently only scheduled to release on the Xbox 360 and the PC.

Additionally, the development team at Ubisoft Montreal have made it clear in the past that the title is not scheduled to release on the PlayStation 3 for a variety of reasons, most prominently because it would hurt the production of the game.

Ubisoft Montreal CEO, Yannis Mallat, made it a point in a recent VideoGamer interview, to tell fans that "there is always hope" for a port.

Whether or not something will come out of Mallat's statement is unknown right now, but the Splinter Cell games have traditionally been ported to Sony systems after seeing a Microsoft release.

This game looks so hot. PS3 owners need to start petitioning.

Mallat most likely loves money (he is a successful video game company CEO), so he's probably either baiting Microsoft to put a ring on that finger or wants to make more money on the renewed success of the PS3.
