NIS Announces Prinny Sequel...Dood

A recent price drop announcement brought with it news of another Prinny title.

Gamers first encountered Prinnies back in 2003 within the original Disgaea. According to Disgaea lore, Prinnies were originally humans who had committed some type of sin when they were alive. Upon their death, they were sewn into the form of Prinnies, and made servants to try and seek retribution. These little penguin-like creatures are best known for their explosive properties and unending use of the word "dood".

Earlier this year, players had their first chance to become acquainted with Prinnies on a more personal level with NIS' PSP title, Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? The basic premise of this title revolves around Prinnies being blamed for eating all of the Demon Lord Etna's pudding. As punishment, she requests the ultimate dessert, and sends all the Prinnies out to gather ten ingredients which must be collected within ten hours.

Today, courtesy of Andria Sang, comes the announcement of a sequel to Prinny: Can I Really be the Hero. The information was revealed within an announcement for a "Best Price" version of the original Prinny title.

Nippon Ichi Software did not share any further details concerning the title other than the name, which is tentatively Prinny 2.

Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
