Project Monster Revealed

The DS title is brought to you by the creative minds behind Henry Hatsworth.

Yesterday, IGN lifted the veil on the new DS title, Project Monster. The game is being developed by DreamRift, a company comprised of many of the members behind last year's DS title, Henry Hatsworth.

The title takes cues from Hatsworth, including two games in one with an action based game occurring on the top screen, and a more passive puzzle game taking place on the bottom.

In the case of Project Monster, players will evolve a monster on the bottom screen which can in turn be used to the player's advantage on the top screen. Depending on how the monster is used it will evolve in different ways, unlocking a variety of skills, abilities, and attacks.

Players will take on the Monster Kingdom, the game's locale, as Ellie. Ellie has the abilities of many video game heroes in generations passed. Similar to Samus Aran and Mega Man, she will be able to fire a projectile. She also retains some of the characteristics found in Castlevania protagonists, with her ranged physical attacks. As with the monster, Ellie will evolve in different ways as the game goes on.

Currently, Project Monster does not have a developer, nor a timeline for release. The company is hoping to gain support soon and hopefully release the title in the second half of 2010.
