Creator and developer of the series, Toshiro Nagoshi, believes the 3DS is the perfect platform for the latest title.

Today, following Nintendo's Fall Press Summit, Sega has announced Super Monkey Ball for the 3DS. Due out in 2011 in all regions, the game will harness the power of the 3DS and its motion sensing capabilities to provide an unprecedented Monkey Ball experience.

Players will be able to partake in the classic Race to the Finish style gameplay as a single player, as well as local wireless multiplayer modes for up-to-four players. At this time, only Monkey Race and Monkey Fight have been revealed.

While Sega is promoting the motion sensing controls, players will be able to use the brand new Slide Pad to control the game as well.

Here's to hoping that this Super Monkey Ball brings the series back to its roots. I will say that it seems and sounds promising.
