House of the Dead: Overkill 2 Coming Soon?

A "close" source says yes.

Fans of last year's over-the-top on-rails shooter, House of the Dead: Overkill may be interested to know that there is supposedly a sequel to the title currently in development.

According to NintendoLife, sources close to Sega have revealed that the project, codenamed House of the Dead: Overkill 2 is not only well into development, but is expected to release during early-to-mid 2011.

Though NintendoLife contacted Sega in regards to validating these claims, the company refused to comment on the speculation.

I bet this will be multi platform, but I'm fine with that.

If this happens, the game should either be a $20-30 title or contain a lot more stages. The first game was essentially a shallow arcade game being sold for full price, so I didn't buy it until it was heavily discounted (I believe I found it for $12), and it took my sister and me only two evenings to beat it.

I'd imagine they're waiting for after the whole big Christmas season to talk about it, since they've gotten a few games to promote this year. Makes sense. I still need to play the first House of the Dead Overkill. Maybe I will this year.

Yes!

This game would be perfect to have a Black Dynamite cameo.

Exactly. My dad likes this type of thing, on-rails shooters. If we get the chance, maybe I'll get him involved around Thanksgiving.
