Alrighty, diving into blogging again—Summer Media

I am finally writing my first Pixlbit blog! To get the ball rolling I'll do a quick update on the media I will be consuming this summer.

Reading: A Song of Ice and Fire
I just finished Game of Thrones and have started on A Clash of Kings. My roommates and I watched the first season of the show towards the end of the school year and got me hooked. Now, the original plan was for me to finish the ENTIRE series over this summer so that we can all discuss it without worrying about spoilers when we regroup this Fall. Unfortunately I'm already falling behind on my 50 pages a day goal. Regardless I'm really enjoying this.

Listening:
Vic's Basement—this is a cool podcast from the guys who do Reviews on the Run and EP Daily. I've really gotten to like their programming and this is a nice, more relaxed and candid, taste of their opinions on gaming and other nerd culture.

Mugglecast—I've been following this Harry Potter podcast for years. Recently my RSS feed messed up so I'm behind a few episodes. It's not as exciting anymore now that the HP heydays are largely over but it's still a really good podcast.

Music—Small Town Pistols, The Band Perry, Jason Aldean, Mackemore and Ryan Lewis. All of their new albums are what will be rockin' out of my truck's speakers this summer!

Gaming:
My end of year presents to myself included the Journey Collection and Bioshock Infinite. I've since finished both Journey and Infinite, but have yet to finish the actual 'collections' being Flower and the original Bioshock.

My Journey experience was pretty neat. Didn't get teary-eyed like some people say they did. It was more like my hands being frozen to the controller because it entirely had my attention at certain parts. I played through entirely with one person. She had already played through it a couple times that morning (ya I totally creeped her trophy record) so she showed me some of the easter eggs. It was kind of nice just letting her take the lead most of the time. So I quite enjoyed it and I'm also glad it was slightly more challenging than flOw.

Bioshock Infinite was a great post-exam treat. I usually get bored with shooters so the story and Elizabeth's presence were exactly what I needed. If the ending had been less cutscenes (like Journey) my hands would have been as tense as they were during Journey. I actually finished this game after re-watching Looper the night before. Bye senses of reality, haha. However I believe that I'm overthinking Looper while Infinite has some dimension plot crap that I still need to figure out.

Dude, long time no see, and you've been a busy bee haven't you? Looks like you've been busy, I haven't read anything in ages as far as books go but we'll see what happens. As for games, Injustice is the only game I've gotten that's from this year. Looking forward to seeing you around here.

Props to anyone who can finish all of the Song of Ice & Fire books over a summer. Those books are dense. Some I can just plow through, but not those.

Ya, actually the guy who really got me into them probably could. But he was reading in the front row of my weather and climate class for half the year. And he's already read them at least once.

I'm reading Clash if Kings right now too. Fifty pages a day is a big goal, but it would be fun. I probably read half that but I'm squeezing it in as it is. These books deserve all the love they get from people.

I might actually be able to do it now as I've been reading during my coffee/lunch breaks at work in addition to in the evening. Still don't know about finishing them over the summer though. I keep getting confused to the actual series page count because the ebooks are different than the print.

And I agree, these books seem fresh and innovative on a bunch of levels.

I read during lunch at work too, and sometimes I lose track of time... I could never even start during a shorter break because I'd probably have more trouble stopping.

I have about 200 pages left in Book 5 of ASoIaF. After that... I play the waiting game for Book 6 I guess. Love the series so much though. I am going to try some other books when i'm done. I hadn't read much post-college before getting into these, so hoping it makes me a reader again.

Haha crazy, with as many pages as I have to go it's gonna be weird when I catch up. I guess I'll have you to coach me through the withdrawal.

Are you gonna try some other genres or stick to these? These are the kind of books I've read the most but it makes other genres more enjoyable in some ways

Love Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Been listening to stuff like Vs. EP and Language of My World ever since I got The Heist for my birthday this year.
