We're nearing the end of a full week of 2XP for Battlefield 4 and I've only managed a few hours of gameplay. It's not all bad, though, since I've managed to finish some books I had been reading.

Some Mistakes of Moses:This is actually more of a long essay from Robert Ingersoll, a public speaker and fervent atheist from the mid 1800s. It's interesting to know that being loudspoken about his opposition to religion at that time wasn't nearly as detrimental to his career as it would be now. In fact, he could be considered a celebrity back then. This essay outlines his beliefs on how the Bible is just a product of its barbaric times and not divinely inspired. I really enjoyed this, especially with the winks to the audience. I imagined Jon Stewart talking throughout.

Bonecrusher: This is the first steampunk novel I've read and was surprised at how much fun it was. The story itself was fairly cliche once it all was done, but it unfolded in a great way and was a great introduction into the alternate history.

Stiff: the Curious Lives of Human Cadavers: A short book about what happens to human bodies after death, both biologically and socially. It covers cadavers being used for various testing, including crash test dummies. It's written in a light-hearted tone, which definitely helped when it came to the description of various states of decay.

I took advantage of the Black Friday weekend holiday sales thingies to buy a PS Vita and physical copies of Uncharted 3, Saints Row 3 and Max Payne 3. Yes, a trio of 3s. Anyway, I'd gotten the first 2 free using PS Plus and liked them enough to want to have the physical versions to lend out to friends. And I haven't played Max Payne 3 yet, but I've heard good things.

I've liked the little bit of time I've had with the Vita and can't wait to get more play with it.

Also, I just caught up with Legend of Korra, which...like...holy wow it's gotten good.

The Vita is an amazing peice of technology in my eyes. Now that I can play my PS4 games on it, it is even better.

I'm getting a good feeling about the Vita, especially with the amount of psOne and PS2 games that I haven't played and are available.

I'm going to have to watch Legend of Korra sometime. My friend and I watched all of Avatar a year or so ago. What a great show.

There are some shaky moments in some episodes, but holy hell does that show kick ass when it wants to. I was worried that it would not be able to live up to A:TLA, but those worries have been alleviated.

That sucks. Hopefully it'll be up soon. The second season just finished, so I don't see why it would take too much longer for season one.

I could do without the cadaver book, but the Moses one seems interesting. I consider myself a sort of Christian Hindu agnostic, but I am very open minded and try to absorb every view I can.

I thought I fell into your broad category when I was younger, but I grew up atheist and I never really left that mindset. Researching faiths just reinforced my view that religions are too involved with people trying to comfort themselves rather than actually being inspired, so I just called my search quits and am immersing myself in my atheism. I still don't have a problem with faith, just religions.

The cadaver book was pretty interesting, despite the topic. The author even covered the use of corpses for medicinal purposes in a fun, light way.Gruesome stuff, but she told it with a smirk, so it was tolerable.

honestly, I feel the same way about religions... I personally think that everyone has to find their own faith, and churchs and other people getting involved is wrong. Nobody should tell anybody else what to believe as far as God/Gods/whatever is. Dogma frightens me.

But for me, I find the divine in the every day (most often in music) and my faith comes from that rather than any text or religion.

I swear it seems like everyone has a 3ds or vita but me the book on death is interesting I was told by a hospice nurse that just about every patient she's had that passed had a look of being confused and very scared and thats distubing to think about on a lighter note nice picks on the treo of 3s lol.

I ended up giving in and getting the Vita cuz I'd been thinking about it so long. I guess I just needed to shut up that twinging little voice that was bugging me about it lol.

The scared look doesn't really surprise me, but confused? That seems too...personal, I guess? I'm not too sure how to feel about that.

Yeah! I'm hoping to finish those games up sooner or later, but I'm glad I found them pretty cheap.
