It's been about a month since I've posted. I'm gonna blame my starting school for most of that, though it's probably more me just being lazy.

I'm taking 2 courses right now: American History to 1877 and American Literature 1. I'm enjoying them both, but I hate how much the other students grumble every night of my history class. They probably only see it as fulfilling whatever requirements they need, but I'm seriously interested in the topic.

Lit is also going well. I'm probably putting too much pressure on myself to do well (taking 10 hours to edit a 3 page paper probably isn't healthy or normal), but considering I'm not too sure if I want to minor in journalism, I thought I'd play it safe and do as well as I can in my writing.

I haven't played too much, though I managed to finish Fuse, which I'll be writing a review of soon. I have things to say about that game.

A couple weeks back, my friends and I got together and we played Arkham Horror.

arkham horror

It's a pretty intensive board game set in a pulpier version of HP Lovecraft's stories. We played for something like 4 hours before we gave up because there was no way we were gonna win. As players, we aim to defeat the randomized events that the board and card decks throw at us. And it seems like the gods of randomness decided to throw everything at us as quickly as possible. We conceded and let the world fall under the cold winds heralding the arrival of Ithaqua.

I'm hoping we can play again soon, though I've played some solo games to help learn the weird intricacies of the game.

How's everyone been? How's the fall been treating ya?

That sounds like an interesting game. I haven't played a board game in a really long time.

As I've mentioned elsewhere I'm not a fan of Fall, I'm already waiting for  Spring.

Ah, I'm a fan of fall. The temperature finally starts dropping to the 80s and 70s in this part of Texas.

My friends and I have been getting more and more into card and board games lately. We mostly like playing co-op games, but there's one of us who like competetive games more. Then he really hates it when he loses.

it's hard to mess with those dang Elder Gods.  Laughing

Yeah! And we were playing against one of the easier ones. I'd hate to think how quickly we would've lost if we played against Azathoth or Yog-Sothoth.

I grumble at all work, interested in the topic or not.

Board game sounds interesting.

I'd like Fall to be more apparent in this part of East Texas.

I take it the temps are a bit more moderate through the year?

It's still too damn hot. I get excited when it rains every now and again, but the temperature needs to drop already!

We just had a week and a half of overcast skies and rain. That's the first we've had since about March. It felt soooooo good. (I swear I'm not trying to rub your nose in it.)

Ah heck yea! That board game looks amazing!

I'm interested in what you have to say on FUSE. I was just looking it over and wondering if I should get it to play some co-op with a friend of mine.

Arkham Horror is great, but you need to sink a LOT of time into just one game of it. But it's fun and manages to convey a sense of harried dread as you try to close gates and defeat monsters as they start swarming the board.

Fuse was...something. My opinions were colored by playing it solo. Maybe co-op would change that color. I'll try to put up my thoughts within the next couple days.

Dread is the perfect word to use in relation to all things Lovecraftian.
