You guys are changing the way that I play my games.  I just played through Metroid Prime again, and adjusted the sound preferences so that the music was forefront.  It was an amazing experience.

This makes me happy. Video game music has always been important to me. I used to make my own soundtracks by holding my tape recorder to the speakers of my TV or Game Boy. More recent soundtracks are less interesting to me. I couldn't pick out music from The Last of Us or BioShock, for example. But those games with very distinct music that goes along with the event or environment really stay with me.

Very good episode. Most "music" is procedurally generated atmospheric stuff in a lot of games now so it definitely gets washed out. When a great soundtrack stands out in a modern game, it's something special.

I've always been more of a melody guy over ambience or atmosphere but this was good stuff. I found myself particularly enjoying the two from FTL.
