PixlTalk Episode 5: Flying Solo

Nick and Chessa permanently take the reigns of PixlTalk, and PixlBit as a whole.

This week features just Nick and Chessa, as Neal and Lauren have departed from the site.

As such, the duo discusses the Halloween Marathon of last weekend to kick off the show. This includes discussion of marathon gameplay as a whole and how Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness hold up all these years later.

Chessa gives us the lowdown on Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and Comet Crash, while Nick has a heftier segment going through all of his latest reviews as well as Jam Sessions 2 and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the PSP.

The show ends with a brief discussion of the most recent and notable news, including the announcement of the DSi XL.

Please feel free to send us some listener mail at pixltalk@pixlbit.com. We'll without question read it on the show and probably have a discussion about it as well. So send 'em over.

As far as things I'd like, I have to say, I don't really think the site lends itself to a solid forum, per say... Maybe something more like an "Open Comment section" on each game, so you can say whatever you'd like about the game, if that makes sense, but not in a thread-based format.

Something like that perhaps? It's just a little bit of an idea, but I'd also love to see a method to see new replies and such. Something along the lines of a "Last 20 comments" option, or a way to view which stories and items I've posted in have new replies easily. That kind of option would be pretty sweet, and match the style of the site well, I think.

I'm replying as I'm listening... OH NO!

To put it simply, Mario and Luigi 3 have an awesome item, something called the "Challenge Medal" or at least something similar, and when you equip that, the fear of dying greatly increases, but you earn more corns for your fights. It increases the stats of all your enemies quite a bit. It was definitely something I liked that Nintendo included, and made the game a lot more interesting to me.

Items like that are good for players who like to increase the challenge level a bit for themselves, and I agree are great to have in the game.

I tend to stray away from using them cause more coins aren't worth me redoing everything...but then again save points are everywhere in this game so redoing five grids worth of work may take an extra ten minutes at most.

So, uh...

I'm still waiting to see what the new special feature thing Chessa came up with is. Did I miss it?
