PixlTalk Episode 15: Wild Tangent

This is why we don't let Chessa drink before a podcast.

Yet another week down, yet another episode of PixlTalk behind us. This week is not unlike many others, and features Nick, Chessa, and Jason Hillhouse.

The first segment focuses on what everyone has been playing. Chessa talks about God of War III and Pikmin 2, while Jason fills us in on Mass Effect 2. Nick gives us the rundown on the rest of No More Heroes and talks shortly on No More Heroes 2. All the while the crew takes discussion on a number of wild tangents, hence the title of the show.

The shutdown of Xbox Live on the original Xbox is the focus of the second segment. The crew discusses what that means in the long term for gaming and how it is affecting people now.

This is probably the most professional podcast I've ever listened to.

It's a lot more "organic" than NWR.

The fact that a lot of games these days are so online-centric and are doomed to total obsolescence in 5-10 years is kind of sad to think about. Like Wall-E and all that garbage.

@Zap

What's interesting is that Starcraft and Warcraft 3's online modes are still up and running. Those games came out ages ago. It's really absurd that a paid service gets shut down in 6 years while free online serves for blizzard titles that have been up for a decade or so are still running strong.

Also, don't get me started on EA's annual shutdown of online servers for games just look at how many online servers they shutdown in total, granted most of the titles are annual sports titles but the point remains valid. http://www.ea.com/2/service-updates
