One Year Anniversary Bash!

Well, it's finally here, and we're celebrating with a PlayBit.

Believe it or not, PixlBit is officially turning one this Friday! I know it's hard to believe, but for one solid year we have been providing a variety (we hope) of content in many different forms.

One of our favorites are our PlayBits, so we figured there was no better way to celebrate than hosting one on our birthday. This time around we are going to take a different approach to make things more of an extravaganza.

We will be playing a variety of games, all of Japanese origin, all of which never made their way to America. The list includes games like Custom Robo 64, Doshin the Giant, the Kururin series, Giftpia, Captain Rainbow, Nonono Puzzle Chai-Rian, and Donkey Konga 3. While these games are part of the celebration, they are by no means the centerpiece.

For this PlayBit, Nick, Chessa, Jason R., and Chris will be hosting a live "podcast"/radio show where we talk about the past year, the site, the games of the night, and gaming at large. We'll be taking listener calls and topic suggestions from the chat.

If we see a big enough turnout, we'll also hold a trivia contest and give away some E3 swag. So come, be merry, and join us this Friday night, September 24 at 7:00 PM EST to celebrate one year of PixlBit.

We have lots of swag bundles to potentially give away, so make sure you arrive and your friends do, too. I'm sure Nick and Chessa are tired of storing it all in their house!

This sounds like a great list of games, I hope I can make some of it.

You just happened to pick one of the few Friday evenings I'll be available. Maybe I'll grace you with my presence. :)

Glad to see PlayBit return. I always thought it was one of the truly unique things you do that most other sites don't.

That's what I've been saying all along!

We had originally planned a Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure PlayBit, but given the turn-out of the NSMBWii event we had right before E3, we really didn't know if we'd see many people show up.

I will say, this PlayBit will be worth attending just for a chance at some of the E3 swag. I'll try to talk to Nick to figure out exactly how we'll do it, but last I was aware of, we had several swag prize packs premade, ready for contests. Chances are, the winner will get first pick at which prize pack he or she wants.

Anyway, if enough of you all show up, we'll have a fun contest. Then, if there's enough genuine interest, perhaps we'll plan another PlayBit (Maybe go back to Four Swords Adventures) for sometime soon. I can only hope!

Edit: *Ahem* Since you did miss it, now would be a good time to draw attention this way.

Will there be a "Best New Staffer" award to hand out?

I'm pretty sure my staff title is longer than everyone else's, so I'd definitely win that award.

Be sure to vote in the poll to your left to decide what we'll play first!

That's not what she said.

For the short time that I could be watching the Pixlbit crew play, I enjoyed it.

Were you guys using a modified GameCube, or just using a swap disc for Kururin?

Glad to hear you enjoyed it Caliban!

For ease of use, we just tossed it in the Wii, and used the Gecko Loader from the Homebrew Channel. Prior to the Wii's release, I needed to use the Action Replay and swap the disc.

Ah cool. I don't mind using something like Freeloader or Action Replay on the GameCube, but it's going to be a hassle to find such a game. I have the other 2 games for GBA, and while I was watching the PlayBit it just struck me that I need that game too lol.

Glad you enjoyed it, Caliban. Make sure you tune in next time, too, whenever that will be!
