I don't think Zelda's that good of a fit for them from what I've seen of the Souls games. The atmosphere an discovery of their games just screams Metroid so much more.

From Software are versatile. They've made more than the Souls games. They have a first person, fantasy RPG series based on Ultima Underworld, a long running mech series, two action games steeped in Japanese mythology, a stealth ninja series. I have no doubt in my mind they could recreate the appropriate tone for Zelda, and their games prove they can realize the structure of the 2D Zelda games in 3D.  There are reasons that the Souls games get compared to Castlevania, Metroid, AND LoZ. In fact, they're more like Zelda and Castlevania than Metroid, which has significant platforming and run-and-gun components. Armored Core (mobile shooting and technology) combined with Otogi/Tenchu (Agility and acrobatics) provide a more relevant groundwork for Metroid.

It's closer to metroid in tone, feel and themes. Gameplay isn't as much of a factor here.

None of which support why Zelda is not a good fit for From Software's game design approach, which is my point. If they can pull off high fantasy, science fiction, mythology, and feudal Japan, they can pull off fairy tale fantasy, and have done such if you look at certain aspects of King's Field and Shadow Tower. And they can obviously pull off the structure, progression, mystery, and exploration of Zelda.

To kick things off - I want Nintendo to let Platinum Games have a crack at StarFox. It would be totally over-the-top in the best way possible.

Or maybe let Platinum have a whack at making a Zelda spinoff, seeing as how they've made some hack-and-slash style games that were really good.

There's something to that. Clover (Platinum's predecessor) was the studio behind Okami, which was the best non-Zelda Zelda game I have ever played, bar none. In fact, Atsushi Inaba, Okami's producer, was one of Platinum's founders and is still with the company.

We have Smash Brothers coming out this year, but I would like to see a more serious fighter as well. Project Soul/Namco could be engaged to do a new Soul Calibur featuring Nintendo characters. Link has already been in a SC before.

Someone should make a StarTropics game. Not sure who, but it needs to happen, and is the kind of series that doesn't need Nintendo's attention and a third-party can handle.
