You know somebody had to do it! This is the official Final Fantasy thread. I'll start with a simple topic. Do you like the series or no? Why or why not?

I like it immensely because those games are the best role playing experiences in my eyes. The stories are generally good, especially some of the older titles. I also really like how you take control of the characters and build them up into fighting machines. Even the wimpier ones can be extremely useful.

edit: why won't the title display Japanese Kanji? Oh well, I think I'll leave it for a little bit.

I'll check the DB to make sure I have the table set up for UTF-8... but I'm pretty sure I do already. Maybe Kanji requires UTF-16? Let's see... (?? EDIT - Didn't work, balls.)

Cool. I want to see Kanji. 

I've only played FF1 for an hour or two, IV to about the half-way mark, and a little bit of XII. I'm going to play one of them all the way through sometime for sure.

Next topic: Which fallen character would you like to see resurrected/ brought back in the series? 

I'm going to not go for the obvious choice. I would say Daryl from FF VI. You only really got to see her story in flashbacks, and I think she would be an interesting choice if they were going to continue the story. For instance, why did her airship crash, and what had she been doing since then, assuming she wasn't dead? They could possibly write her in something like being kidnapped by aliens. Well, just a suggestion. ^^
