Nintendo Download - 01/03/2010

A brand new WiiWare demo hits the service alongside two full games and three DSiWare titles.

This week's Nintendo Download brings a total of five new titles, two on WiiWare and three on DSiWare, and a single WiiWare demo.

WiiWare brings both Sneezies and Ghost Mania, two puzzle titles. Both are available for 500 Wii Points and both offer a different flavor of puzzle gameplay, Ghost Mania providing falling-block puzzles, and Sneezies providing something a little more abstract.

Robox is this week's demo, showcasing the unique indie-platformer from DreamBox games. A colorful world and Metroid-like gameplay define the 1,000 Wii Point experience. Players can try it now and see if the game is worth the asking price.

DSiWare brings three new titles, Word Searcher 2, Music on: Drums, and Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology. The last of the three titles appears to be the most unique, as it brings three titles-in-one from indie dev, Jason Rohrer. According to the press release, they are three of his best, Passage, Gravitation, and Between. The package is available now for only 200 Nintendo DSi Points, while the other two games are priced at 500.

I might grab that Jason Rohrer DSiWare game, seems kind of interesting.

I haven't finished the review yet, but unless you only like the puzzle sections of puzzle games like puzzle league, Ghost Mania gets a thumbs down. Go for something more traditional if you want other traditional block puzzle modes. The workings of this just aren't enjoyable.

The Jason Rohrer game compilation isn't very fun at all, however they are interesting for a few minutes. The point of all three games is to interpret and understand what exactly is being portrayed, all the titles are "artistic games". One word of warning, the game called Between in the compilation is multiplayer only.
