Ex-Rare Employees Form New Studio

A group of four have forged Starfire Studios to build an "always connected" XBLA game.

Starfire Studios is the latest game studio spawned from ex-Rare employees. A group of four, each with over ten years experience at Rare, have formed the new studio to create a unique XBLA title that fuses a twin-stick shooter to a variety of MMORPG concepts. Despite the split from Rare, a second party of Microsoft, Microsoft Studios is slated to publish the brand new title, Fusion: Genesis later this year.

Hundreds of single player and co-op missions are planned, as well as eight player PVP for this "always connected" space shooter. Unlike your typical twin stick shooter, the game promises greater depth and faction choice, allowing players to assume a variety of different roles. Trader, mercenary, peacekeeper, seeker, or military loyalist, players will be able to comfortably choose a play style that fits them right.

The game also boasts connectivity to Fusion: Sentient, a Windows Phone 7 version of the game, though the details of this offshoot title are currently unknown. For more information and a preview of the gameplay, be sure to check out the trailer below and visit the game's website.
