Sony Online Entertainment Taking Down Four MMOs

EverQuest Online Adventures among the titles going down.

Sony Online Entertainment has announced it is taking down four MMOs from the last generation. EverQuest Online Adventures, Cosmic Rift, Star Chamber and Infantry will be no more on March 29, 2012. To help with the transition, SOE is offering players of EverQuest Online Adventures a 3 month Gold Membership to EverQuest and EverQuest II starting March 16th.

“Each of these games shares a special place in both ours and our players' hearts,” wrote the SOE in its latest update. “This is not an easy decision, but there comes a time when it's best for our developers to move on to the next adventure, and that day has come.”

EverQuest Online Adventures launched in 2003 on the PlayStation 2 and Star Chamber was released the same year on PCs. Cosmic Rift was released in 2001 and Infantry in 1999, making it the oldest title of the bunch. EverQuest and EverQuest II both recently went free-to-play with Gold memberships offering additional content and features.
