Cing Files for Bankruptcy

The developer behind Little King's Story and numerous point and click adventure titles has recently filed for bankruptcy.

According to Data Max (translated by duckroll from NeoGaf) on March 1, 2010 Cing officially filed for bankruptcy in Japan. The bankruptcy filing is due to liabilities totaling 256 million yen (about $2.8 million USD).

Cing has developed Little King's Story and numerous point-and-click adventure titles such as Hotel Dusk, Trace Memory/Another Code, and Again.

Because bankruptcy doesn't necessarily mean closing, at this point, it's not clear what the future holds for the company.

It looks like CING already took down their website. This doesn't look good :(. Even though their games didn't have top notch production values, they were all unique and I really enjoyed them.

Well this is too bad. I'm not the biggest fan of their games (don't like the genre), but it was evident that they were quality work. Hopefully someone grabs them up while they are on the fritz (*cough* Nintendo *cough*) and allows them to continue developing titles.

This is right before Again comes out, too! I wonder if it'll still see a full, wide release.

It looks like Tecmo is still publishing and promoting the game, good news for anyone looking forward to the title.
