I think this shows how desperate Microsoft is to have this title ready for their Summer of Arcade promotion. This generation disappoints me how games can be released incomplete at launch and that companies simply get away with it.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for XBLA to be Released Without Online Features
The online features will be patched in when the PSN and PC versions are released.
Crystal Dynamics has revealed to GameSpot that the Xbox Live Arcade version of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will not be released with online co-op, voice chat, and online leaderboards when it is released later this month. The online features will be patched into the XBLA version on the release date of the PSN and PC versions.
According to Karl Stewart of Crystal Dynamics, the online features are being omitted because they are still in development.
Between October and December, five new add-ons are planned to be released. The first three add-ons will include new levels and the other two add-ons will contain playable characters from other popular Square Enix Europe (Eidos) franchises.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light be released on August 18 for Xbox Live Arcade, while the PlayStation Network and PC versions will launch on September 28.
