Aonuma Talks New Zelda in Recent Interview

Zelda as gamers know it may be getting a drastic makeover.

In a recent interview with Eiji Aonuma, it was revealed that the next Zelda installment will feature major changes that stray away from the classic elements of prior titles in the series.

The Zelda producer recently sat down with Official Nintendo Magazine to discuss details regarding the upcoming game. Nintendo has decided to change things up to prevent the series from becoming stale. He stated, "It is something we used to talk about with Mr. Miyamoto, and he and I agree that if we are following the same structure again and again, we might not be able to give long time Zelda fans a fresh surprise."

When deciding how to take the series in a new direction, they wanted to makes changes that would surprise people, and create "something new in terms of the structure of the Wii version." One of these changes is the implementation of full Wii MotionPlus support. Although hinted by Miyamoto at last year's E3 roundtable, this is the first time it has been officially confirmed.

Aonuma concluded the interview by stating, "I hope that we can show you something at the E3 show next year and it is something we are hopeful will be surprising."

For those interested in reading the full interview, it will release in issue 51 of Official Nintendo Magazine, which will be available for purchase on December 18th.
