3DS Demo Unit in the Wild

Much to my surprise, a casual stop at Best Buy reveals the first 3DS demo unit I have yet to see.

On my way home from work today, I made a pit stop at Best Buy in an attempt to find a copy of Dragon Quest V on the DS. I recently came to realize just how rare it was and have been trying to secure a copy before it becomes extraordinarily expensive (it's already well on its way). As I rounded the aisles of the Best Buy gaming section, I stumbled upon a 3DS demo station with PilotWings Resort.

Sleeping With the Television On

Not just a Billy Joel song, but what happens when I play games of questionable quality for review.

It’s surprising what you find out about yourself after reviewing stacks of video games – or what other people seem to find out about you. At my last job, I worked with a bunch of guys who were all into video games, and as a matter of fact, most of those guys write for the site – Jason Hillhouse, Stanton Daries, and Sam Hawkins, to name a few. As you might expect, video game conversations were pretty frequent and often I’d talk about games I was reviewing at the time. After a few conversations, people started to see a trend.

The formula remains the same, except for some small enhancements and 3D effects.

Rayman 3D Preview

I'm so excited, finally, a brand new Rayman game!

Just kidding. Rayman 3D is yet another rerelease of Rayman 2, the most popular and best received Rayman title in the series. While originally released on the N64 and PC, this latest 3DS version of the game is based on what's considered the best version, the Dreamcast edition. In preparation for this latest rerelease, Ubisoft has made some enhancements to the game to entice new and old players alike.

In Defense of Waggle

Wait, hang on a second! Before you start jamming on the Page Down key to troll me in the comments, at least hear me out!

Alright, thanks for at least trying to listen to what I have to say. Waggle has been a loathed enemy of non-casual gamers since its introduction with the Wii in 2006. While it's often used in ways that harm the game experience, in some instances, it's far better than any button could ever be. Whoa, hang on there, killer! There will be time to troll at the end, let me justify myself.

Giana Sisters DS Review

It’s-a-me-a… Giana?

Rather than tell you some elaborate story of what The Great Giana Sisters is and how it came into existence (feel free to read up on that on Wikipedia), I’ll tell you all you need to know. The Great Giana Sisters is a Super Mario Bros. clone released originally in 1987. Since then, a new version of the game has been created for the Nintendo DS, which features new levels, items, and goals. While I can’t tell you much about what has been borrowed from the original release, as I’ve never played it, I can tell you that this latest release is enjoyable.
