Gunblade NY & L.A. Machineguns: Arcade Hits Pack Review

The good old days, when machineguns were mounted on a swivel to the arcade cabinet and ammo wasn't even a concern.

Light gun games have a come a long way since they were introduced many years ago. One of the first I can remember playing as a kid was Gunblade NY from Sega. The cabinet featured two mounted machineguns and the gameplay encouraged constant gripping of the trigger. There were no alternative goals to the gameplay, it was simply point and shoot at anything that moved. As the years have gone by, players have experienced far deeper missions, a variety of guns, and some more complicated cabinets to do simple pointing and shooting. With the latest release from Sega, players have the ability to step back in time and enjoy two classics of the genre, Gunblade NY and L.A. Machineguns.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Review

Grab a friend because co-operative top-down shooting and embedded puzzles are the solid cornerstone of Lara Croft's latest adventure.

The Tomb Raider series has been around for quite a while at this point and Lara Croft has found herself in a variety of different adventures, all from the third person perspective. This time around, Lara is not featured in a titular Tomb Raider game, but rather a new co-op experience with a top-down view. While I wasn't sure what to think of the game before playing it, after just a short time, it was obvious that the team at Crystal Dynamics were on to something.

Hydro Thunder Hurricane Review

Hydro Thunder's return is a glorious one.

It's somewhat astounding, but it has been longer than I can even remember since I have had the opportunity to sit down with a solid arcade racing title. Hydro Thunder Hurricane has allowed me to fondly recall a time when the only thing players need to concern themselves with is finishing the race in first place. It's almost liberating to not have to worry about anything else, especially after playing so many titles that make players worry about so much more.
