Hey guys. I think most of you know me from 1up. If not my name is Matt though most people online call me Trip. I joined up here some time ago and sort of got away from logging into to comment. I even wrote a blog here about a year ago. It’s nice to be back here though. I really like the staff and while I haven’t been keeping up with the site as much, I do get to interact with them on Twitter a bit and they are a good bunch.
When I found out 1up was going under, I pretty much said, “Well that is the end of me blogging on a community site.” I really poured myself into my blog at 1up for most of four years and I just didn’t feel like starting over in a new community. I’ve also been toiling away at my blog called The Whiteboard (which you know, you should totally bookmark and stop by at now and then) for about a year now. It’s kind of scary being out there on your own, but it also feels really cool having your own space. Me and a friend of mine do it together and we write about Games (me), Music (him) and TV (both of us). The TV writing has been particularly fun for me as something a bit different than anything I did on my 1up blog. So once 1up went down, I said, “Well I’ll just go with The Whiteboard from now on.”
But then with all the bloggers joining up over here, I find myself back here. I’ve got the hole in my internet time that 1up left to fill and I still want to read everyone’s blogs, so this is great for that. But it was also fun to interact with friends via the comments on my blog. There was always 1up blogs I wrote that didn’t quite fit the style of stuff we do on The Whiteboard, so I think I will still have some cool stuff to post here. I may take a page out of my friend volvocrusher and 1upper Cary’s playbook and do a recap of some of my Whiteboard blogs at the end of each month. The way they do it seems like a nice way to offer up some of my other work without ramming plugs down everyone’s throats too often.
What am I trying to say with this blog? I am not sure. I guess that I am going to start blogging here. And I look forward to interacting with my old 1up friends here via the blog community as well as any new people that stumble upon my blog. I’m not sure what will be up first, but I have a couple small Tomb Raider blogs I want to do. One last one pre-release of the reboot. And I’ll be grabbing The Collector’s Edition of the new TR this Tuesday and even if I have to strangle my local Best Buy employees I will get my pre-order bonuses as well. That includes a comic book and I plan to do a little picture blog showing off all the goodies. Anyway, I will talk to you guys all again soon.
