2014 Anticipated blog

Brief New Years blog ahoy! A whirlwind tour of what I’m looking forward to – in the gaming, anime and convention/cosplay realms. Ready, GO.

Gaming:

1) FFX/X-2 HD Remaster PS3/Vita: Definitely my most anticipated game of the year, perhaps tied with Xillia 2, but a remake of my favorite FF (FFX, not X-2, for those of you wondering)… international version, additional stuff added like remastered soundtrack, etc etc, AND A LIMITED EDITION?!?! PS3 AND PSVITA????? SIGN ME UP STAT.

2) Tales of Xillia 2 PS3: Again, pretty much tied for my most anticipated game of the year. When you like a game enough to import it and ‘struggle’ through it in Japanese (yah, my Japanese still kind of sucks, but getting MUCH BETTER thanks to anime and games); well, you know you love it. Cumulative 450 hours spent on ToX/ToX2 so far, imports and the localized ToX. SO. Goodness I’m excited.

3) FFXIV PS4: Believe it or not, I have FFXIV for PS3. Just no space and no time to put in on my HD. So waiting until PS4 version comes to start ;) see y’all online, right? Heh.

4) Drakengard 3 PS3: Beauty. Preordered this on the SE website as soon as it was available. And that soundtrack. Good lord.

5) FFXIII Lightning Returns PS3: Love hate relationship with 13 I’m not gonna get into, but suffice to say I need to see how this trilogy ends. Bit of hypocrite cuz I’m getting the LE too, but. What can ya do. *shrug*

6) Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc Vita: As y’all know, huge visual novel fan. Watched the anime just recently, and shazam- I’m hooked. Also getting the LE from NISA website. And. Cosplaying a character from this series at cons this year!

7) Atelier Escha/Logy PS3: Like the male protagonist choice for this game- Logy FTW. Also the usual tropes like costumes etc inherent in these games, always enjoyable. If not a bit embarrassing but WHATEVER. So sue me, I’m weird.

8) Tales of Symphonia/Symphonia 2 Chronicles PS3: Don’t kill me but unlike most of the western world, I was not captivated by ToS, preferring its poor cousins Tales of the Abyss and even Legendia in its stead. Whelp, with the new HD graphics, it has its chance to redeem itself in my eyes. Or crossing my fingers it can anyhoo!

9) Demons Gaze Vita: Interested in this game if only for the …. Artwork that’s been posted on certain forms and some of the rumors I’ve heard. Heh. Leaving it there.

10) Conception II Vita: REALLY surprised this is getting localized, but also extremely crazy excited. Bit worried since the first one didn’t get localized, but heard there aren’t any tie ins between the two so should be ok, I think?

11) BlazBlue CP PS3: Might I say how glad having Kokonoe as a playable character makes me? Oh. And Terumi. DUH.

12) Bravely Default 3DS: Playing the demo at the moment, and boy, is this game pretty. Bit skeptical about this whole idea of making a bravely default game every year, think that might be a bit overkill, but. Anyways.

13) Theatrhythm FF Curtain Call 3DS: Keep almost forgetting about this game, partially because I STILL haven’t gotten around to playing the first one. But. Still excited, don’t get me wrong.

14) ALL THE PERSONA GAMES – LITERALLY (P4 Dance, Persona Q, P5, P4 Ultimax etc Arena and the like): Ever since the announcement, I’ve been chomping at the bit for more info on these games. Knowing Atlus, they’ll ALL get localized. RIGHT ATLUS?!?!?! (chuuuuu…)

15) Hakuoki Stories of the Shinsengumi PS3: So like the 30^th remake of this game, but now on PS3 (PRETTY) with 20hrs of additional cutscenes and gameplay! YAY. *part serious part sarcasm*. Ahem. Anyhoo, hoping for SSL sometime in the future. So will support this release….

16) Steins;Gate VN for PC: ITS FINALLY COMING! One of my favorite anime ever… and… a visual novel. Screaming a little inside. Look for it end of Feb, friends. Also cosplaying a character from this show.

17) Kara no Shoujo 2 and Cartegra VN’s for PC: Kara no shoujo is literally one of the craziest/most haunting VN’s I’ve ever played. That being said, it is by no means tame, so take caution in playing this game or any of its iterations. Innocent Grey, you have outdone yourself…..

18) Moenovels next title (unannounced at this time) for PC: Soon to be announced, I’m assuming. Another Pulltop title? What with CRUISE SIGN just recently announced for Japan… well…… we’ll see

19) Chaos Rings sigma iPhone: Keep almost forgetting about this game, since almost no news has come out since its been announced, assuming its still a 2014 release. But what do I know?

Stuff I’m looking forward to but doubt will make it here in 2014: FFXV, Natural Doctrine (both PS4), Tales of Zestiria (PS3)

FFX and X-2 are my most anticipated too. I got a Vita just for that. I love both those games, and maybe if it does well, we'll get X-3. We can hope.

Wow, a Vita just for X/X-2... tbh a lil more excited for the PS3 version, but having it handheld is freakin sweet too. As for X-3, the possibilities. Wow... but also, oh goodness I am so so worried SE would mess it up and then have the entire X trilogy 'ruined' in my mind. *crosses fingers. all of them*

Thanks for reading my blogs, first of all.

I don't know of any anime I would be looking forward to, but last year I went to an anime convention with some of my brothers, and Iearned about a new remake of Space Battleship Yamato. I used to watch that show as a kid when it was called Star Blazers in the US. So if you know if the remake will be in the US, please let me know.

I don't think I'll be going to any anime conventions this year. I went to the one last year with my brothers and that just about drove me nuts. Although I still enjoyed spending time with them.

I'm probably too old to be doing any cosplay. But just for fun, what do you think I should cosplay as if I went to one of those things? :)

They are actually doing a remake of Yamato, you are correct, and I do think its coming stateside.... ! Altho. Bit retro for my tastes, heh.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is one of my top picks to get when i get my ps3 at tax time along with Tales of Xillia and didnt know if you knew this or not but Atlus is working with the Persona team on Persona 5 which looks insane and for me i have been playing alot of Japanese rpgs from Kemco who had a 99¢ Christmas sale and i picked up a bunch of them which i did a blog on not long ago and by the way some of thoughs anime flix look awesome.

This list of anticipated games is a list after my own heart. You know I'm down with Namco's flurry of Tales love. I'll be getting FFX/X2 HD, but I hope Square will consider a HD remake of FFXII, perhaps for PS4. I'll probably get most of these games, in fact. I already have Bravely Default's CE on preorder. Oh, and let me know when you get back into FFXIV. I'll be getting the PS4 version as well. I have it on PS3, but supposedly you're supposed to be able to upgrade to the PS4 version.

Heh, lots of other fans hoping for XII remake as well so you aren't alone, friend :P X/X-2 is a dream for me since it is my favorite FF of all time (altho still holding out hope for a VI HD remake- YA RIGHT, ha).

I'll def let you know about FFXIV- thats why I bought it for PS3, huge sale on and I heard I could upgrade it when PS4 came out (hence why I said I 'have' it for PS3 yet haven't started yet, heh). Will let you know for sure. Will take over my life, methinks anyways.

Haha..I am impressed you put together a list..I'd have to sit and try and remember a few titles to make something of a 'complete' list..Since I can't name all the things I watch and have watched off the top of my head..2014 looks like another hectic year for me..Plus it seems I may have found myself in something of a collaberative effort at Deviantart..(Forgot to mention that in the post but it was really just a rambly update..)

I may get around to posting about it soon-ish but still drawing up some stuff I am gonna upload and show them than likely put them up on deviantart,possibly to a update on it if I can manage..By the way the second part was talking about Persona Q..I just realized it could almost be mistaken for being part of the request somehow..('v' ;) (At least by someone else..)

Looking at your list, I'm reminded of a lot of games I was looking forward to including FFX HD, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, Theatrythm 2 (never played the first one, but it looks like the sequel will have all the old songs), and Bravely Default.

You seem to be a big fan of visual novels which I just happen to be playing lately. I'm playing Fate/Stay Night, which is like a 100 hours long but worth every second.

I'm also looking forward to this anime season. Nobunagun seems to be pretty crazy and a lot of fun. I'm also looking forward to Chunibyo Season 2.

Yay, another visual novel fan :P apparently we're a bit of a rare breed. Such a time sink, eh? Steins Gate, when it comes, is going to kill me- hello 2 hours of sleep a night. yippee.

Anime season is gonna be awesome. My favorite premiere so far is actually The Pilot's Love Song, girly as that sounds. ahem.

I just preordered FFX/X-2 for the Vita. I missed this first time round as I didn't have a PS2 so i'm rather excited. I prefer JRPGs on a handheld so hopefully the Vita version is as good as the PS3's. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for previews that say otherwise.

That is a long list of cons, anime and games! Blazblue and Theaterythm appeal to me most of the games you posted. As for anime, I've heard great things about Attack on Titan from last year, but I don't know if I want to get a Hulu Plus account to watch it. I guess there are other ways ... *ahem.*

In my case, I'm looking forward to a lot of self-improvement, getting closer to finishing my Masters, enjoying all the new goodies I acquired over the holidays, and in general, looking forward to a year that is not 2013. lol

I was always hoping that Bravely Default would make it to the west, and glad it did. Too bad the CE has no statue. I still have that version on pre-order though. I tried the demo and loved it, got everything the demo had to offer, everyone is at lv 20, leveled all the jobs with everyone, and got all the bonuses for the real game, all while wasting 1 of the 30 demo tries. I even watched the AR movie, it was pretty neat.

Never tried a FF game before, let's say if I wanted to get into the series, would the remake on the PS3 be a good start? On anime, been out of the loop for a while, so I'm all confused lol Have fun in the anime conventions!

The statue of Agnes? I saw a picture and kind of thought,... well, sounds silly but, I'm glad I'm not getting it :P I just finished the demo myself, everyone at level 18 and all play bonuses obtained- waiting for some street passin....

FF is so polarizing, it's hard to tell if you'll be an 'FFX' person or an 'FFVII' person or an 'FFVI/FFIV' person - in other words, every FF fan has different tastes... I can tell you FFX was definitely my favorite of the series, based on the characters and the overall theme. It's a bit more shall we say "character focused" as opposed to "world focused" (FFXII is very world focused since it centers around the politics and interactions between races etc etc). Not saying FFX doesn't have that stuff, but it focuses on interaction between the main cast more. And it's much more of a romance story. So yah. That's my take on it. I'd highly recommend, but if you don't like it, don't assume you won't like any FF's :D

Innocent grey sounds interesting. I'm also glad Kokonoe has stepped up to the plate in Blazblue. I found it an injustice how they built her up to be so interesting in the previous BB games yet you could never "be" her. lol. I'm happy that error is finally rectified!
