Prolog:  A Time Remembered

The darkness calls to me.  

I escaped Lordran and tried to put my time there behind me.  It was not that I was incapable of conquering that place.  I had defeated some of the strongest demons that resided in that dark and accursed land.  It’s just that many had pushed on ahead of me, and by the time I was in reach of the bonfire at world’s end the sun had risen and the song was over.

I had drifted away and gone elsewhere... in time I found myself in Tyria at Lion’s Arch, sleeping in a hammock on a beach while zombies raided off the coast.  Slaying phantom dragons was a vacation after I had slain the ur-dragon of Gransys.  I’m a dungeon master after all, after the ur-grue an ur-dragon is a walk in a park!  

And yet I had escaped Lordran without the merits one should have claimed.  I was better than that.  Those I passed on the street who knew where I had been would buy me a drink and shrug.  “Hells, it matters not luv.  So few actually came back from there.  No one will hold it against ya.”

How that ate into me.  They didn’t even know, it wasn’t that I had failed, it wasn’t even that I had attempted it and failed... I’d simply left. 

It kept me up at night.  

Then came word of a return of darkness.

Forces are amassing. An invasion is imminent.

I am summoned.

Drangleic is calling.

I haven’t completed Dark Souls... I am easily distracted.  But before any of this can happen, they are blowing up Lion’s Arch in Guild Wars 2!  If anyone wants to join me on the Stormbluff Isle server to watch the city burn!
