The PS1 had some awesome jrpg's as well.  It kinda carried on the SNES tradition in my opinion.

Thanks for the welcome!  I actually wrote this a few weeks ago and just now learned how to make it "live". 

I think for overall atmosphere, Alan Wake is mine, though I have not finished it yet.   I also have been playing the original Fatal Frame for xbox and it is really good.  I really really wish they would have released Fatal Frame II on the wii.    Regardless, I need to go back and find a copy.  What consoles was it released on?

I must admit, the SNES is my favorite after all these years as well.

Here is my story for a "cheapie".  I was excited to see Castlevania in 3D.  A friend of mine got it and I was at his apartment watching him play it.  We were all kinda dismayed.  It wasn't the quality we expected from Castlevania.  Fast forward a bit, I saw it on sale in a Best Buy add for $15.  The kicker?  $15 mail in rebate.  I thought, I was a bit disappointed, but for essentially free, this game is worth it.  So, I went and bought it.  I sent in the rebate.

Fast forward to now, I put the game back in after hooking up my N64 again after all these years and still can't push myself past the castle wall level.  As for the rebate?  Never saw it.  Curse indeed. :)

Not to be glib, but I find it funny your love for the N64, but most of your N64 reviews thus far, you don't seem to like the games.  I know every system has it's turds and you have not hit the best ones yet in ABC order.  I just chuckled at this.  Sorry.

For the record, I enjoyed the N64 myself and just hooked mine back up about a month ago. But yeah, some games were crap!
