Yes, today is beer day. The day of the week that I blog while swigging a nice IPA or whatever else takes my fancy. Today's beer is a Head Stock IPA from Nickelbrook Brewing
You know...just when I've seen it all something surprises me. Anime is great. I love anime. I've watched hundreds of anime series, and Beyblade was one of them. Granted I was in a anime phase at the time, so everything was cool. I mean it's a show about kids launching fucking magical spinners into an arena for gladiator-esque battles to the death! Of course anime doesn't translate as well in real life. In reall life you watch tops spin around and hit each other out of the ring, but as a kid you pretend that it's like the show and "let it riiiiip!". The show...also doesn't translate into a video game...and today I tell you why.
Happy Friday Pixlbit! Another week is almost in the books and I am ready to hit the local music store this weekend (unless I get sidetracked by a nap.) So how has this week treated you good folks? Anything fun planned this weekend? I am currently trying to read through a bunch of blogs you good folks have posted so if my comments are a wee bit late, sorry. Anyways since it is Friday it is my favorite blog of the week, Quick Hits. Yes I watched a bunch of shows, bought some stuff, and other fun randoms. Let’s get started!
I just saw this on Facebook and it's too funny not to share. The Bangor Police Department has someone writing their Facebook statuses with a an excellent sense of humor. Read on. Might be the funniest thing I've read this year so far.
I'm told there are other games like this on the App Store but Earn to Die 2 seems pretty unique to me. Well, not in theme—it's the zombie apocalypse!—but certainly in structure. You're trying to get from the west coast of the United States down to Florida to join the other survivors. It's a long road! So you jump in your piece-of-junk car and see how far you can get. Naturally, this game isn't very realistic. You earn money from running over zombies that you can spend to upgrade your ride, like a bigger gas tank or a better transmission or armor to protect you from the zombies. There are eight categories in all to upgrade and you can get new vehicles altogether later on. I've seen pictures lol.
Dragon Magazine #106, February 1986. In the U.S. you would have been very envious of the release of The Legend of Zelda in Japan. You might even have been so frustrated that you headed to the theater to escape into the latest action movie, The Delta Force, staring Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin. I only watched the first few minutes on youtube, but this is how every action movie should begin: one big explosion and then the heroes enter. Perfect! I often consider how all these 80’s action movies informed 8-bit action video games like Contra, Ikari Warriors, and a hoard of arcade rail shooters.
