 Select a Stage

One of the other important aspects of Smash, (besides character predictions) are the stages you'll be fighting in. Alot of the times the stages are based on the current game of a character representing a franchise. Sometimes they do take some liberties with them but they look great in the end. Alot of them have gimmicks, level hazards, or are just plain stages with none of them. This time around they added alot of stages on the Wii U, and there's some pretty big ones with the new 8-Player Smash. Here are my favorites:

Pyrosphere

Pyrosphere

This level is from the really hated Metroid: Other M and the icing on the cake is that it will surely remind everyone about Samus and Ridley from that game. But we're not here to talk about that. The stage is pretty big, and the neat part is that Ridley comes out as a stage boss and he can aid you instead of attacking you if you attack him enough. Okay, maybe having Ridley here with this stage was a bad idea.

Palutena's Temple

Palutena's Temple

This one is based around Kid Icarus: Uprising. Also, it's a pretty big stage. What's neat about this is that if you use Pit and do one of his taunts, Palutena and other characters from KI:U appear and talk about the character you are fighting. This level is also a real hoot in Sudden Death.

Great Cave Offensive

Great Cave Offensive

A stage based on an entire portion of a Kirby game. This level is probably one if not, the best of the big stages because of the variety it offers. This level has spikes, cannons, lava that kills you instantly if your damage is 100% or more, and even the mine cart. This level is also a real blast in Sudden Death.

 Dr. Wily's CastlePac-LandWindy Hill Zone

3 new stages based on the games third-party characters. Windy Hill Zone is the Sonic stage based on Sonic: Lost World. It has a giant rotating windmill and springs on each side. The springs can determine if you'll make it back or fall because it'll send you crashing down if you hit it from the bottom. Dr. Wily's Castle is the same as the 3DS version, except that it obviously looks better. The Yellow Devil still makes his appearance as a stage boss and anyone caught in the explosion when you defeat it will be sent flying. Pac-Land is really neat, you're scrolling through the stage like in Brawl"s Mushroomy Kingdom and it's even got a 2D style like in Flatzone. You keep scrolling to the right, till you warp to a different portion that has you travel to the left, were Mrs. Pac-man makes an appearance. From there the level takes you back at the start for another trip, except that the time of the day is different.

Orbital Gate

Orbital Gate

A Star Fox stage based on Star Fox Assault for the Gamecube. It's a pretty big stage and like in every other Smash game not called the N64 one, you can pull off a special taunt in this stage, when you're not playing as Fox or Falco. Not sure if Krystal appears in the communication since I've only done this once, but I think she might since she was in Assault. It's a pretty impressive stage that changes during the dogfight.

Gamer

Gamer

This is a neat stage and I presume it's based on Warioware for the Wii U. The style of the stage also looks different and the neat thing about this stage is that 9-Volt's mother (I think that's the name) shows up and if she spots you, you'll be sent flying. So you're going to have to watch out for her during the fight.

Boxing Ring

Boxing Ring

This is based on Punch Out, you can also change it to a Smash Bros. boxing ring too. A neat touch of this stage is that on the screen, it shows who is currently fighting and the match number. It even shows a description of the fighter you are using as well as your opponent. It even says Sudden Death during a Sudden Death match.

Kalos Pokemon League

Kalos Pokemon League

Based on the Pokemon League of X/Y. It's basically a Pokemon stage that changes to match each of the arenas of the Elite 4 Members which is nice. Also, other Pokemon appear in the stage as well, and stage hazzards with each stage transformation. Also, Legendary Pokemon make an appearance too, just be careful.

Gaur Plain

 Gaur PlainGaur Plain

This is the only other stage (besides Wiliy's Castle) that appears in the 3DS and Wii U versions of the game. It's from Xenoblade Chronicles and it's a recreation of Gaur Plain from the game. It's pretty big with plenty of patforms. It also changes from day to night, and sometimes Metal Face makes an appearance as a stae boss. He also has reactions to Shulk if he's in play.

Mario Galaxy

Mario Galaxy

Based on the Super Mario Galaxy games comes Mario Galaxy. It's basically the Gateway from the first Galaxy game, but it realy has alot going for it. For starters, you can see other planets in the background, even the Starship Mario from SMG2 comes out, as well as a Bowser fleet ship and the Starshroom. This stage also abides to the rules of Galaxy, like if you throw a projectile or an item, they travel in an arc because of the gravity. It's a nice touch that they didn't have to do, but they did and I like them for it.

So, what are your favorite new stages in SSB Wii U? Thanks for reading and later.

I hate the Great Cave Offensive. Just knocking someone out is way more fun than launching them into spikes until they take too much. Regular stages are just more fun for partying too. My favorite is Hyrule Castle, which may be a repeat, but with 8 players feels better than ever. By far the best one for a lot of people.

It get's a tad annoying sometimes there, which is why majority of the time we play the not-gimmicky version. I haven't had a chance to try the 8 player Smash but they did a good choice including the Temple Stage again.

I love that Xenoblade stage, but I know why friends hated it. Fights can take FOREVER on that stage.

I love the Animal Crossing stages and the Yoshi Wooly World stage. I think they did an excellent job on them all.

I was happy to see The Great Cave Offensive, since it's based on one of me and my brother Jeff's favorite parts of our favorite Kirby game.  The Mega Man and Pac-Land stages are also neat, but I really like them for the background music.  And yes, Gamer is based on Game & Wario.  Do you not have that game?  You should get it!

I also thought the Wrecking Crew stage was neat.
