I'd made a lame thread in here a while back and was looking to recycle it.  Food, for me at least, is always a good topic for discussion.

Since I've been on the injured list and at home for the last 3 weeks I've been able to put a little more thought than usual into what I eat for my mid-day meal.  Normally I pack a sandwich, chips, a cup-of-soup and a bunch of other random goodies to consume at work, as well as whatever canned drink is striking my fancy at the time.  More than anything, this is what's been coming into my head lately when I get hungry:

Ohhhhh man.  When I think of ramen now, ever since I watched Mind Of A Chef, I think of that picture above.  More accurately, I think of tsukemen, which is actually cold noodles in one bowl and a super-concentrated dipping broth piled with goodies for dipping.

I don't make anything that extravagant for my own lunch.  I usually take a pack of the ubiquitous ramen noodles we're all familiar with, cook them properly, and then add spices and a hard boiled egg.  If I kept shallots around I'd use them for sure.  I may end up grilling some chicken and using that for the meat for tomorrow's ramen meal.

So, what's YOUR favorite lunch?

Peanut Butter and Preserves on a nice hearty bread.  None of that white crap.

I've always been fond of a nice turkey sub with provolone cheese, light on lettuce and heavy on mayo, all of which is slightly toasted just enough for the cheese to melt. All with a side of plain potato chips.

Fuck, I'm hungry now...

Grilled cheese on good bread. With or without the smoked pork product of my choice (ham or bacon). I get my bread from the local bakery, where it is baked fresh daily from all-natural ingredients and without preservatives. I usually get their honey oat for sandwiches and a loaf of one of their specialty breads for breakfasts/snacks. Current fave is apple cinnamon, but I also love their brown sugar cinnamon swirl and the blueberry granola. Along with my grilled cheese, I'll sometimes slice up a slightly tart variety of apple. Sometimes I'll have some chips, but I'm trying to avoid chips and soda these days. And for dessert, usually a couple of cookies. My boss and I take turns buying the cookies, so the type of cookie is frequently a mystery until lunch time.

Reading through the responses is making me hungry. Good thing lunch is a couple of hours away.

As for one of my favorites and if I have time is a carne asada torta: no tomato, avacado, with extra mayo. I also have a couple of tripas tacos (the tripas have to be fried). I have this favorite hole in the wall spot my friends and I have been going to since high school. Awesome stuff!

A free one, obviously. Can't believe no one guessed the correct answer already.
