Pokemon Wii and 3DS Games are Underway, New Pokemon DS Title Announced

The DS game does not have anything to do with the color gray.

Nintendo held an investor's meeting yesterday, and during the meeting, Iwata revealed Pokemon Typing DS, DS title that comes complete with a full bluetooth keyboard and a bluetooth enabled DS card. The game will be released in April in Japan, though no mention was made as to whether it would make it stateside, to North America.

In addition to the news of Pokemon Typing DS, Iwata mentioned that Pokemon projects are underway for both the Wii and the 3DS, though he did not go into specifics about what these titles may be. Surprisingly, there was no mention of a 3rd title for the Pokemon Black and White games, as the main series of Pokemon traditionally has a third version in development for later release for its new entries.

It might be compatible with the Wii and 3DS because its a Bluetooth keyboard, no?

It's absolutely compatible with the 3DS, because the 3DS can read DS cards. As far as the Wii goes, I don't remember if you can connect other bluetooth devices to it or not.

The unnamed 3DS Pokmon game could easily be the third version of Black and White. Heck, the Wii game could be, too.

As for the keyboard, it couldn't be used in any current Wii game with USB keyboard support, but it could be used if a game is specifically designed for it. The Wii can recognize up to seven devices at one time, with four generally being Wii Remotes, so the other three can be used for accessories, like the Balance Board.

Speaking of that, last I checked, Nintendo usually assigns the balance board two controller slots. It's a little weird, but that shouldn't actually prohibit it from being able to connect to five more devices, Nintendo would probably just need to change the firmware.

I recall hearing last month that there are no plans for a 3rd version to this generation of Pokemon games. I would guess that they are just moving straight to a new 3DS generation. At the very least the possibility for new move animations in 3D would be cool.

Here's where they say no 'Grey' version translated from Spanish:

"Historically, each generation games have added a third cartridge that certain developments, if Yellow / Crystal / Emerald / Platinum. Then asked a hypothetical issue "Gray" and if he would appear in 3DS. Ibe has been against the idea, saying "Not at all. We finished this comes with Black and White version." To honor its words, is this the only generation of this series without further editing."
