[UPDATE] Origin Confirms Crysis 3?

EA's download service may have sprung a massive leak.

UPDATE: In a statement issued to Game Informer, EA has let it be known that they will be making some kind of official announcement concerning Crysis 3 in just a few days.  The statement reads: “The best kept secret in shooters just can’t be contained.  Stay tuned for more information on April 16.”

You can be certain that PixlBit will share whatever EA announces then.  You can read our original report on today's accidental reveal below.

----------------------------

In this day and age there are so many accidental reveals that you’d think major publishers would have a department whose sole purpose is to ensure that leaks just don’t happen.  The latest preemptive leak comes courtesy of EA’s Origin service, which may have foiled a potential major announcement.

The officially unannounced Crysis 3 was briefly listed on Origin for preorder earlier today.  The posting has since been taken down, but as you well know, once something has been on the internet, it will always be on the internet and our friends at NeoGAF have personally ensured that this stays true.

A large banner Image (headline image) was pictured as well as the potential box art for the game (pictured left).  The cover shows what is likely our main character holding a bow and arrow, which may reveal a new and interesting addition to your arsenal.

At this time EA has made no comment on this leak, but we’ll be sure to let you know if/when Crysis 3 is officially announced as well as any other additional details we can get our hands on.

"The best kept secret in shooters just can't be contained. Stay tuned..."

Lol I love Crytek, Crysis 2 is one of my favorite shooters I've ever played, I'm hyped for Crysis 3, and hyped for the fact they're also developing Homefront 2... but the EA statement made me laugh and roll my eyes. Come on, that statement was ridiculous and the aggrandisement and self horn-tooting was just funny. It's the kind of junk businessmen just burp out of their mouths when they don't know what to say. Meanwhile behind the scenes some poor sap is probably getting chastized or worse, being fired for the leak. Leaks happen all the time though, I can't imagine everybody gets fired left and right for that kind of stuff, it's not like they're protecting the holy grail or something.

Oh, and as a response to EA's statement personally I have to say, "No EA, the actual best kept secret in shooters is the next Half Life game." Half Life for sure, but I could also count Doom 4 into that category somewhat, there's some others besides that, but I'll end it there.
