A solid run-and-gun shooter in the vein of Contra.

While many games this generation are a throwback to the days of yore, not many have emulated the cult classic, Contra (exluding Contra ReBirth). Matt Hazard, originally a campy third person shooter on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, has now returned for yet another campy adventure, this time, a run-and-gun shooter for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Along with the camp comes some solid gameplay that might emulate the old days a bit too closely.

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath & Beyond Dated for PSN and XBLA

D3Publisher's parody 2D action game will arrive early next year.

According to Joystiq, Matt Hazard Blood Bath & Beyond will be released on January 6 for Xbox Live Arcade with a price of 1200 Microsoft Points ($15). The PSN version will be released the following day for $14.99

After last year's retail release, Matt Hazard goes the side-scrolling route with Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond.

D3Publisher announced that Matt Hazard is returning in Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond, an Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network game slated to hit this winter developed by Vicious Cycle.
