Battle Mii Hands On Preview

Miitroid.

The next Wii U demo I tried was a quirky mix of Miis and Metroid. Up to two players could team up with Wii remotes dressed up as a Mii with Samus' suit against the person with the Wii U controller who manned her gunship. A short training mode let players get acquainted to the controls by shooting at floating targets, then each side was released into a large arena to shoot it out in third person; the player with the most hits won.

The Legend of Zelda HD Tech Demo Hands On Preview

Huge Definition.

The first demo was a 30-second Zelda HD cutscene of Link entering a spectacular room and fighting a giant spider. The Wii U's HD capabilities turn a simple boss room into a massive and beautiful palace hall, and the spider was incredibly intimidating, full of segmented body ridges, menacing mouth parts, and hair (shudder). It was fluid, detailed, ornate, colorful, brilliant in light contrasts, but a limited experience.

Wii U Hands On Preview

Nintendo one-ups the Wii, iPad, and DS all at once.

In a developer video reel, Danny Bilson of THQ described Wii U's tablet-touchscreen as the "swiss army knife of controllers," and there is no better way of putting it. Wii U's controller really does everything, but it also melts in your hands the way the Gamecube's did all those years ago.

Thor: God of Thunder Review

Trying to say "Sorry, Thor Wii" 3x fast is more fun than playing it.

I can't tell you any of Thor Wii's characters, plot, goal, bad guy, or setting. None of it made sense (and I played it all the way through)! While it certainly isn't for those unfamiliar with the movie or comic books, it's at least passable as a beat-em-up/brawler.
