Lunar: Silver Star Harmony Review

The Sega CD classic is back again, this time with a fresh coat of paint.

Many gamers are deeply familiar with the Lunar series, particularly the very first title which gained quite a bit of attention on both the Sega CD and on the PlayStation, where it was originally rereleased. I myself have never had the pleasure of playing the game, though I've always heard just how great it was. Without nostalgia clouding my vision, I can say that Lunar Silver Star Harmony is a well-done game, but one that clearly shows its age in both its level and game design.

Blur Review

If Project Gotham Racing and Mario Kart had a baby, you'd get Blur.

Bizarre Creations is a developer of many talents, responsible for a wide-variety of games all in different genres. While they have done quite a bit, they seem to have stuck with the racing genre longer than any other, mostly through their Project Gotham Racing Series. Now that they have been freed from further development of those titles since acquisition by Activision Blizzard, they have had the opportunity to create something in that vein, but fresh and new at the same time. Blur is the result of those efforts, and it is something that will undoubtedly be compelling for fans of arcade-style racing games.

Tournament of Legends Review

A stiff and shallow fighter that seems to lack purpose and direction.

As time has gone on, the fighting genre has seen many unique titles that all represent the core gameplay in a different way. Though many different forms of the genre have existed, only a few of these have proved successful amongst gamers. Tournament of Legends takes a swing at creating a new form once again that meshes concepts found in a couple different fighters, mainly Namco's Soul Calibur and Nintendo's Punch-Out!!. Unfortunately, the fighter from High Voltage Software is largely unenjoyable thanks to some rigid controls and very basic gameplay.

Transformers: War for Cybertron - Autobots/Decepticons Review

Vicarious Visions delivers beautiful graphics and some underwhelming gameplay.

These days I'm always impressed by what can be accomplished on the relatively underpowered DS hardware. Vicarious Visions has always managed to be quite good at maxing out the system's graphical capabilities for the games they deliver. Transformers: War for Cybertron is a great example of some impressive system pushing graphical work. Unfortunately for Vicarious Visions, the accompanying gameplay, though a decent attempt given the subject matter at hand,is not quite as compelling
