Metal Slug XX Review

This rerelease of Metal Slug 7 offers up beautiful new graphics and the ability to play with a friend.

The Metal Slug series is one that I have often enjoyed with friends in the past. I got my start with the series on the Xbox with Metal Slug 3, and later 4 & 5. Shortly thereafter, the collection was released for the Wii (amongst other systems) and myself and friends dedicated a good amount of time blasting through the entire series. The games were undeniably fun with a second player right by your side. Metal Slug 7 was released last year on the DS and I couldn't bring myself to pick it up without any sort of multiplayer included. I must assume that I was not alone, and as a result, SNK has rereleased the game with some additional content on the PSP as Metal Slug XX.

Red Steel 2 Review

Red Steel 2 rights some of the wrongs of the first title, but certainly not all of them.

I remember the Wii launch as if it were yesterday. Waiting in line at a 24-hour Super Walmart in the freezing Rochester, NY cold for just over 22 hours. I remember grabbing my shiny new console, a copy of Twilight Princess, Excite Truck, and of course, Red Steel. How could I not grab those titles? The latest Zelda was a sure thing, Excite Truck was a blast at the demo stations, and Red Steel just looked awesome.

Resident Evil 5: Desperate Escape Review

The second downloadable episode of Resident Evil 5 proves to be far more action-driven and enjoyable.

The second piece of DLC comprising Capcom's Gold Edition of Resident Evil 5, Desperate Escape, features Jill Valentine and Josh Stone. The episode fits into the main story just as Lost in Nightmares did, but is a bit more interwoven. Players start off directly after Jill is saved in the mainline quest, and Chris and Sheva depart. Josh finds Jill, and the two proceed to escape the compound in which they are trapped. This escape makes for a decently fun play experience that is much heavier on the action than its DLC predecessor.

Why Portal 2 Has Me Worried

Can the sequel possibly live up to the original?

As most gamers know first-hand at this point, Portal was an absolutely fantastic game. It combined a great new mechanic with innovative puzzles, a strong story, charm and an extremely strong main character. The magic of Portal didn't lie in just one of the elements, each and every part of the game played into why it was so enjoyable. This, in essence, is why I am worried about Portal 2.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Review

Not quite the deep and engaging adventure that was expected.

There's no question that Wii owners have been starved of RPG experiences, even now, three-and-a-half years since its release. One game that Wii owners have been holding out for to deliver that experience is The Crystal Bearers. Unfortunately for Wii owners, The Crystal Bearers is much more of an adventure title than it is an RPG, and a mediocre adventure title at that.
