WayForward is just awesome

It's a well known fact that I like Wayforward, I rank them next to Retro Studios as my most favorite developers. When it comes to games, WayForward's expertise is 2d games, good ones. While they may not be perfect games, they are good at what they do. Contra 4 and Shantae are perfect examples of this mastery of the pixel styled art. Batman the Brave and the Bold showed me that Batman can still be campy and a fun beat em up side scroller with cartoon styled visuals. Mighty Switch Force was the game that told me how awesome they were, it's a fun game with an interesting twist on the platforming genre. I loved that game on my 3DS so much that I bought it again on the Wii U. Plus they also announced something I wasn't expecting from them, a sequel to Mighty Switch Force:

Mighty Switch Force 2

You can see WayForwards trademark " suggestive" art here. From what I gathered from the screens, it seems like Patricia Wagon (the main character) is switching from cop to fire fighter. It's be interesting to see how that plays. When Patricia was a cop, she had some sort of police pistol that you can shoot enemies with. Will she have a fire hose so she can shoot them with water this time around?

MSF2 Patricia

Yep seems like she has a water pack, Super Mario Sunshine style. But I'm going to guess that it'll run out of water. And she seems to be saving the Hooligan Sisters for some reason versus the time she had to capture them. I don't mind if she changed jobs, all I want to know if the platforming will be neat like the last time which it'll have a few surprising twist in them. WayForward still hasn't announced if MSF2 will be for the 3DS or Wii U. Heck I'd buy both versions.

And now for some news that'll get retro gamers and everyone excited:

Ducktales Remastered

Yes, WayForward is indeed remaking what many call one of the best platformers for the NES. I'd agree if we didn't have SMB 1,2,&3. The most shocking part in this is that Capcom actually announced this, which is like impossible. I guess this will lift everyone's spirits after Capcom announced and cancelled a new Mega Man game in 5 minutes.

I never played this game, like many NES games so yeah I'm excited for this. I also see that they are using hand drawn sprites for this, making it look almost if not just like the show. Here's the trailer:

Still haven't decided on what system I'll get this for but maybe on the Wii U. I heard there was a Darkwing Duck game too, I'd love to see that get remastered since I like Darkwing Duck. I see WayForward as the developer who puts out great 2d games in an industry when everything has to have explosions, guns, and high end visuals.

I think they can make a great Mega Man game if Caapcom allowed them to. Heck I'd love them to make a new 2D Metroid game, maybe with hand drawn sprites, now that would be awesome. Or maybe a Mario game in vein of Rayman Origins, but most likely Metroid. But heck, I'd take either of those 2. Who knows what else they'll announce this year other than the new Shantae game that they are working on, but I am excited for both of these games.

Are you a WayForward fan? Are you excited for either of these games? What would you like them to work on? Thanks for reading and later.

I love wayforward.  Bloodrayne and aliens infestation.  Plus the group that left wayforward to make yacht club games, and shovel knight.

When I got home this evening and read my email about DuckTales from Capcom's PR, I nearly exploded with glee.

WayForward has to be pretty awesome if they made me like a BloodRayne game.  I never thought that would happen.

Still want to play Switchforce. I loved their take on BloodRayne and Double Dragon!

Don't forget about Double Dragon Neon and Bionic Commando Re-armed! Although I prefer the NES version of Bionic Commando, it was a damn fine remake. I have a feeling your gonna like DuckTales Captain. I just hope they do a good job on it. That game is so special to so many people. I'm sure they will. Their track record is indeed impressive. Cool

Don't know much about Wayforward, but after that DuckTales trailer, wouldn't mind a Mega Man from them.

Wayforward's kind of hit or miss for me. Loved Adventure Time and Aliens Infestation, hated BloodRayne and Double Dragon Neon while Contra 4 was just okay. MSF will definitely be one of the first games I get with a Wii U though and I'm excited to play Ducktales. A Metroid by them would be amazing and I'd also love to see them take on old Genesis games. Streets of Rage, Sonic, and Bonanza Bros especially.

This is an awesome announcement. Maybe this will lead to a chip & dale rescue rangers remake!
