Ocarina of Time is the first 3D Zelda game and one of the greatest games of all time. Its sense of scale, classic story, vibrant world, creative dungeons, top-notch gameplay, and magical soundtrack all come together to give us the definitive Zelda experience. But let's be honest: the game IS a little clunky all these years later and the graphics look dated. So in 2011, this masterpiece was remade for the 3DS. The touch screen is put to good use in switching out items quickly, and the gyroscopic function of the 3DS can be used when shooting the slingshot or bow. There is also a Master Quest and a Boss Challenge, which let's you fight all the bosses in one go. The graphics are updated and the 3D visuals are great. This is truly the definitive version of this game, and Nintendo would also remake Ocarina's sibling, Majora's Mask, in the same vein in 2015. You can never have too many Zelda remakes!

I already own Master Quest on GCN (preorder bonus for Wind Waker) and the original game, so aside from it being on-the-go and prettied up, I don't think I'd care to get this.

Majora's Mask remake is the one I'd be more interested in, since they apparently changed the time mechanic, which would change the actual gameplay (in my opinion, for the better).

Yes, MM fixed the time problem, making it more manageable. That's a good remake for sure!

This IS a damn good remake, and so is Majora's Mask, which I really need to finish. Somehow I lost the cart for this game though.  Sucks.

I guess that's easy to happen since they're so small.

I think I loaned it to the wrong nephew, actually.  ha ha.

I own both versions, but I barely played the 3DS version.  I really enjoyed Ocarina of Time on the N64.

Yeah, I have tons of nostalgia with OoT on N64 too.

I still have my original N64 and Ocarina cart. I play it from time to time to see if I can finally get to the end of it. I always get hung up somewhere in the game. I should try the 3DS version. Maybe I can finish it this time.

You probably got hung up in the water temple. Water temples in Zelda games are always confusing. But stick it out and finish the game because it's worth it!

I think I didn't have a problem with the Water Temple actually. It was somewhere in the fire temple, I believe. I'm not sure though, it's been a while.

This is another 3DS  game that I didn't get since I played it to death on the N64 and since the big draw for the 3DS version was 3D graphics that I couldn't see, I decided to not get it right away.  I still don't have it yet.  Isn't it now one of the Player's Choice games at a reduced price?

I'm sure it is. The 3D is great, but there are still other nice additions if you decide to give it a try. OoT is always a great game to replay.
