Wii games I'd love to see remade on Switch

Wii would like to Switch

Wii and Switch

The Wii is over a decade old. It was Nintendo's best selling home console of it's generation and many people were divided on it. When many people think of the Wii, they think of motion controls and shovelware. Which is very unfortunate because it does have some really great games that you could only get on the system.

There are a lot of games I would love to see remade on the Switch. They are mostly personal preference but I tried factoring in controls and whatnot. Here are my most wanted Wii games remade for the Switch...

Wario Land Shake It!

Wario Land Shake It!: I really love Shake It, it was really neat to see Wario animated like a cartoon of sorts. I wouldn't mind a Mario game in that style. I found the game really fun and have a feeling many people passed on it. I think the Switch might be a good place for it to get another chance. They don't really need to change much, except maybe allow you to use traditional controls. Plus they could just rerelease it digitally since it is a smaller game but I wouldn't mind a physical copy.

The Last Story

The Last Story: Another game that is supposed to be very good. It's an Action RPG that has stealth and tactical gameplay which sounds really fun. Everything about it sounds really good but unfortunately it never got a rerelease on the Wii as a digital game. Switch could fix that problem. All they would need to do is just remake the graphics and maybe tweak the controls if they wanted to.

Kirby's Epic Yarn

Kirby's Epic Yarn/Returns to Dream Land: Wii seemed to have an abundance of 2D platformers and some of the very best ones were the Kirby games. Epic Yarn was a nice fun game filled with charm and really great music. I think the co-op gameplay would be a good fit on the Switch, but also include online co-op as well. Returns to Dream Land is still one of the very best Kirby games I've ever played. It was just so much fun and Nintendo really nailed the 4 player co-op that we saw in NSMBWii. Wouldn't require much work but hope they add online co-op since that could be fun.

Punch Out!!

Punch-Out!!: If there is one game I think would be perfect for the Switch, then it's Punch-Out!! from the Wii. I think the motion control technology is more than good enough for the game to register hits as accurate as possible. Plus they can take advantage of the HD Rumble of the Joy-Cons since not that many games use it. This game could make a good showcase of the motion control tech in the Joy-Cons. I wouldn't be surprised if they are porting this or making a new one. Oh and I hope they include the Club Nintendo exclusive Doc Louis's Punch Out!! as well. Thinking about it, this could be the next big online game if they added online play, since it's basically a fighting game.

No More Heroes

No More Heroes 1&2: Travis Strikes Again is supposed to be releasing this year and chances are many never played the first 2 NMH's games. I think this could be a great chance to introduce newcomers to the world of NMH's as well as a chance for veterans to experience them again. Motion controls could be really cool in this game now that the tech is far better but also include an option for not to use them. The sales of Travis Strikes Again depends on if we will ever see No More Heroes 3, so hoping it sells well.

Metroid Prime Trilogy

Metroid Prime Trilogy: With the announcement of Metroid Prime 4, I think it's about time the first 3 games in the Prime trilogy make a return as well. It can be a great way to catch up with the first 3 Prime games before Prime 4 releases. They can rework the controls or touch them up for the Joy-Cons and add traditional controls for those who don't like motion controls. I hope they also touch up the graphics. I mean the games still look amazing but making it look better wouldn't hurt. I think 60 bucks for 3 games is a great value.

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon: I originally read about this game on Nintendo Power and it was described as a game in a post-apocalyptic Earth that takes place in the ruins of Tokyo. So basically kinda like Fallout. Gameplay has you use a flashlight to solve puzzles and illuminate your suroundings and fights have you use weapons that break after certain amount of use. I never got around to getting it so wouldn't mind a remake or a relrelase on the Switch.

Xenoblade Chronicles

Xenoblade Chronicles: I really love this game and it's on my top 10 Wii games. I'm sure a lot of people who jumped into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Switch never played the original. It's available on 3 different platforms, on the Wii but I'm sure the game is out of print, on the New 3DS which the game is now expensive, and on the Wii U digitally. None of those options are convenient so I figure this could be a great chance to remake it in HD.

Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: Out of all the games that deserves another chance, it's gotta be Skyard Sword. SS was a game I loved the first time I played it. Not so much the second time since that's when I noticed problems with it. The main issue here is the motion controls. It uses Motion Plus which at the time boasted accurate motion controls and while that's true, alot of the times it caused issues. There were many times when you would need to recallibrate them and they weren't very accurate. Basically nearly everything in the game was controlled via motion controls, except walking. You probably couldn't play for more than an hour which sucks because Zelda games are about exploration. You got the complete opposite. Also the tech of the Wii really didn't do the artstyle any favors. I felt that the artstyle for Breath of the Wild was what they were trying to achieve in SS. Remaking it on the Switch could fix everything wrong with the game. Have the option to use motion controls and traditional controls.

Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy 1&2: Remake these in HD from the ground up with motion controls and maybe traditional controls as part of a collection and that's it. I will buy them on launch and I'll be happy.

So those are all the Wii games I'd love to see remade on the Switch. Are there any that you would love to see? More E3 posts on the way, so thanks for reading and later.

I want Wii games mostly because of how good they'd look in HD, feel Kirby's Epic Yarn and Wario Shake it in particular would look great. Skyward Sword and Mario I'm in for too just to axe the motion controls and use the right stick instead.

All great picks.  Not sure I'd buy them again full price, but some I might.

I wonder why not Metroid, but then it's all about multiplayer these days isn't it.

Punch-Out, Xenoblade, and The Last Story. Skyward Sword with optional motion controls.
