 Blog a Day #23

Heollo everyone, how are you? We are going to continue on from where we lef off with he Switch games I played in 2018. So here is part 2...

Vertical Strike Endless Challenge

Vertical Strike Endless Challenge: It's basically an endless game where you shoot down as many enemy fighter jets as you can before your jet gets taken down. There's not much else to it but it's a pretty fun game.

Paladins

Paladins: This game might have been out from a while ago but I got it when it became free to play. I've never played Overwatch but it's basically like that game. It's a really fast-paced but really fun game. You can choose from a number of different characters but most of them are locked behind a paywall. I was surprised at how good I was at the game. If you want something like Overwatch on the Switch, then this is your game.

Torna The Golden Country

XC2 Torna The Golden Country: This is basically an expansion to the already massive Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It's basically a prequel that tells the story of what happened in the game many many years ago. It's a bit too short and moves along really quick, but if you want more XC2 then it's something to get. Not much more to tell because of spoilers.

Starlink Battle for Atlas

Starlink: Battle for Atlas: When they first showed this back in 2017, I was interested because it would be the closest thing to a game like Starfox that the Switch would get. Well that all changed in E3 2018 when they announced that the game would get Starfox content. I got it and it's a really fun game. I love how you can expore the planets but seamlessly go to space at any time without any loading screens. That and you can swap weapons on your ship at any time too and you can play the game without buyin the toys. The Starfox team fits really well in this game too. Ubisoft has been on fire with Nintendo lately.

Pokemon Let's Go Eevee

Pokemon Let's Go Eevee: A lot of people hated n these games because they seemed pretty basic. I can see why, they were meant to bring in the Pokemon GO crowd because chances are most of them have never played a core Pokemon game. I found the game so much fun and loved the new mechanics and changes to the gameplay. Even though there were some questionable omissions like no abilities. I was just happy to revisit my childhood games, now in HD and that was enough for me.

Human Fall Flat

Human Fall Flat: I got this one on sale and played it with my younger brother. It's been a while since I've had so much fun with a co-op game. You can play it alone or play with another person, either local or online with a recent update. I will say the puzzles do become easier if you play it with someone else but that doesn't take away the fun at all. Especially the laughs you'll have.

Smash Bros Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: It's Smash Bros., what else do I need to say? Basically my most anticipated game of 2018 and I got to say that it is amazing. More on this in a later post.

L.A. Noire

L.A. Noire: I actually have his game on the PS3 and bought when it launched. It's a rea;;y good, but flawed game but I really enjoyed it. I got it o the Switch last year as part of a Black Friday deal and thought it would be a good time to revisit it. Plus, the novelty of having a game from Rockstar on a Nintendo console. There are some hiccups here and there but a pretty solid port.

Dragon Quest Builders

Dragon Quest Builders: And finally, the very last game I played in 2018 since it was a Christmas gift. In the game, you, the Builder, are tasked with reviving the land of Alefgard which has been overun by monsters. You do this by gathering materials and basically rebuild the land. It's a really fun game. You go out and find materials and you build things like houses, shops, and so forth while fending off monster attacks from the towns you are rebuilding. There are also various things you can do and build as well. I also love how you get more pieces of the story by exploring and playing. I'm really having so much fun with it.

And those are all the Switch games I played in 2018. If I count all the games from the last post, that is 18 different Switch games. It's quite a lot. I don't think I have ever played so many games for one console in only 1 year before. That's a record for me.

But anyway, thanks for reading and...

I saw you can get the Starlink game for $20. That's without the toys-to-life stuff, but I might want to check out the game first. I definitely want those space ship toys down the road.
