 Blog a Day Plans

Hello everyone how are you?

Blog a Day is nearly upon us and like every year I always participate. My posts generally involve the games I played on the previous year to stuff I want to get. However this year I decided to shake things up a bit. Because let's face it, writing about the same thing every year is gonna get boring, for me who's writing these post and for you who are reading them.

This year I decided to change things up and instead of what I usually do, I'm gonna post about my favorite games of the past decade. I've seen sites post their top 10 which is all fine and good. But that is expected and boring. I on the other hand will go one step and beyond and I will write about my 30 Favorite Games of the Decade. Why just limit yourself to only 10 of them when I can do 30 instead? Doesn't seem boring and cliche like what everyone else is doing.

"But Captain N" you might ask? "Can you pull this off? That's 20 more games than the average norm that what everyone else does!" "Also, this February will have 29 Days because it's Leap Year. Won't there be a game missing?" Very astute of you hypothetical reader. Yes, I'm aware of the days in the month vs. the number of posts. I will explain what will happen at a later date. I will start from Game 30 and work my way down to Game 1. Again, will explain what hapens once we make it to that point.

Here is how I'm gonna make this, I will try to limit up to 2-3 games per series, not counting spin-off games. This way I can have a pretty diverse list. Games that count toward this will be games that were released from 2010 till the end of 2019 regardless of which console they released on. I will be going by NA release dates. So for example if a game came out in 2009 in Japan, but released in 2010 over here, I'll be counting the latter release date.

Also, I will count in remakes so as long as the game was remade from the gound up. I won't count rereleases, like let's say if Nintendo decided to release Super Mario 64 on the Switch in 2019 and I played it then, that won't count. The game will have to have a good amount of extra content for it to count, not just some better resolution and frame rate that most companies do and pass off as "remasters". Ports I will allow though, again, the game has to be from 2010-2019. The list will consist of game I have personally played and the impact they had on me. If it isn't on this list, it's because I haven't played it yet.

I feel like this way I will have a very diverse and varied list than what most people have. Because let's face it, if I didn't add in these rules, all the games on this list would be mostly Nintendo games and games that released prior to 2010. This is a good way to give each platform I have a chance to shine. Also, I might be able to squeeze in a regular BaD post if I can. No promises though.

Anyway that's all I got. I've been working on a lot of these post for quite a long time, some more than others. You might think 30 is too much but I started to work on these towards December last year so I already had the format and what I was gonna do planned for a good while. Some posts are ready to go and others aren't quite ready since I'm putting a ton of time and effort when I can. Also, I will try to use my own  images if I can since not every game and system has a screenshot function, especially older stuff.

Well that's all the time I have. I'll be seeing you soon, my fellow BaDguys, and remember...

NIce. I'm considering getting one of those Retron consoles so I can play SNES and NES games. I think with this next generation about to drop. I'm thinking I might go the other way and get back into retro.
