Blog a Day #4
Hello everyone, how are you?
The Wii U to put it simply, didn't sell well at all. It had a number of great games but even that couldn't save it. Nintendo knew this as well hence why they have been porting Wii U games to the Switch. I'm divided on that decision. Like on one hand people who didn't have a Wii U can try out these games which I think it is great. On the other hand they are charging $60 for these ports with barely any changes which I think its insane. The only exception here is Super Mario 3D World. However believe it or not, there are still some games that are still stuck on the Wii U that should have been ported by now. Here are 5 Wii U games that Nintendo hasn't ported to the Switch yet, but should...
Twilight Princess HD is not much of a remake, but more like a remaster or enhanced version of the original game(s). It's basically both the Gamecube and Wii versions combined but with better resolution and some extra content along with amiibo support. It's pretty much the same game you (might of) played during its original release, but I can say that this is the definitive version of the game. Why it isn't on the Switch yet is beyond me. If they do port it, I will now be the owner of 4 different versions of this game...

From the developers of Kirby's Epic Yarn comes Yoshi's Woolly World. Apparently this game is considered a spiritual successor to Kirby's Epic Yarn, interesting but it makes sense since Good-Feel worked on both games. This game also marked Yoshi's return to a home console since Yoshi's Story on N64. Honestly one thing that you immediately notice from the start is the yarn artstyle which looks incredible. This game has been ported to the 3DS so who knows if Nintendo would want to port it again. Speaking of amazing visuals...

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a follow-up to the amazing Kirby's Canvas Curse from the DS. This time they opted for a gorgeous clay art style that makes it look like claymation. It looks great on your tv but there is just one problem and that is that in order to play this game you would need to use and look at your Wii U Gamepad. That means you'd be stuck playing the game on it rather than looking at that amazing art style on tv. But how would they go about porting this game to the Switch? They can use the pointer from the Joy-Cons and use that to draw Kirby a path. Plus you can play the game on tv now too so that's something.

Panned on its release for it's "kiddy" visuals but beloved years later for its visuals ironically enough, its gameplay, its worldbuilding, well-written characters, and story. Honestly, Wind Waker will forever continue to age well. They later remade the game for the Wii U which enhanced and improved the visuals of the game as well as adding some quality of life improvements. I feel this is the definitive version of the game, except that it's still stuck on the Wii U. I'm surprised that they haven't ported this game over yet. Maybe they can port it as a dual release with Twilight Princess HD. Who am I kidding, Nintendo would sell each game on its own for $60.

Out of all the games I can't believe they haven't ported, it's this one. Xenoblade Chronicles X is what I consider the last great game still stuck on the Wii U. XCX is one of the greatest JRPG's that I have ever played, it plays well, it looks great, and that open work is amazing. It's the game I played the most on the Wii U. With how popular Xenoblade has become over these past few years it does make me wonder why they haven't ported it yet. People at Monolith Soft have gone on to say that this game is the most expensive game they have ever made, you can tell all the effort they put into making this gem. That and they are currently busy working on their next game and helping Nintendo on other games. They even helped co-develop Breath of the Wild. That's how talented this developer is, unlike some others I know. It's a shame that this game is rotting away on the Wii U. I hope one day it gets ported to the Switch, uncensored hopefully.
Honorable Mention:
Out of all the games that took full advantage of what the Wii U could do, it's this one. I wanted to add Nintendo Land to this list, but the problem is that Nintendo Land was built around the Wii U Gamepad, thus making this one pretty much impossible. Star Fox Zero on the other hand... Anyway, I suppose they could rework some of the games but I imagine that would not be worth the time and it will be expensive since I imagine you would need to own another Switch or Switch Lite for some of the games to function like they did on the Wii U. At this point Nintendo is better off making a new Nintendo Land from scratch, but I suppose that ship has set sailed from a long time ago. Speaking of which, why didn't they make a Nintendo Land 2 when the Switch launched?
So those are all the Wii U games that Nintendo hasn't ported yet. Are there any games on the Wii U that you want ported to the Switch? Thanks for reading and...
