Things and Changes I want to see in the New Smash Bros. Games

With Nintendo's E3 Press Conference/Nintendo Direct just hours away, I thought I might type this last blog on Smash Bros. Since we know that is a game they'll be showing off. It's always a huge event when Smash Bros is announced, but even bigger when they show footage of it, and no doubt it will be huge. I'm really excited to see what they have to show on it, it is my most favorite fighting game ever. The only thing is that we probably wont see it this year at retail and I'm okay with that. However there are some things I want the series to change.

The first Super Smash Bros. almost didn't exsist but it did and it was different from anything I played at the time. Melee brought alot of changes, huge ones and pretty much the game that improved and expanded upon the series. Brawl, while it didn't bring any significant changes, I thought it was just as good.  I still play it to this day with over 7000+ matches played, I'm hoping to get that up to 10,000 before the new games come out. There are some things I want to see in the series, be it new things or thing I want them to change. Some may be obvious while some might seem like a longshot. Well here we go...

A Better Story/Adventure Mode

SSBB Story

I loved the Subspace Emissary from Brawl, it tried to give the game an actual story, but I still like Melee's Adventure mode a slightly bit more. I liked it because while you were on a stage of a specific game franchise, you had to play by that franchises game rules. Like platforming in Mushroom Kingdom or finding the Triforce in the Underground Dungeon. Wouldn't it be cool if they had a story but with relements from the actual games the characters are from? Wouldn't that be cool?

Better, Functional Alternate Costumes:

Blood FalconFusion Suit Samus

If you've played Brawl, then there's a chance you've seen these alternate costumes, Blood Falcon and Fusion Suit Samus. While they do look cool, they don't do anything spectacular. I mean that doesn't even look like the Fusion Suit, yes the colors are the same but not on how the suit is supposed to look. What if the costumes looked just like fromt he games they are supposed to be from? But wait, what if it gives you different stats? Think about it, Mario is an all-around character but what if he had a Tanooki/Racoon Suit that made his jumping better? Better yet, if it gave Mario flight for a bit? Each Character can have costumes like these, and like the stat changes, they could be true to their games. Link in the red tunic can give him better resitance to fire based attacks.

No Tripping!

SSBB Tripping

If you've played Brawl, you know that tripping was so annoying. I mean you could be in a heated match, you only have one shot of winning but all of that goes to waste with a badly timed trip. I didn't have alot of problems with it, but it get's annoying and it's a cheap tactic your opponent can expose to catch you off guard and finish you. I want to see this gone.

Better Online Interface

SSBB Online

Brawl was the first Smash Bros. game to feature online play. Which was cool, what was not cool is that the game was so laggy and would take a while to connect to an online match. I want to see this improved upon since no doubt that it will have online play. Have all the basic match modes in an online mode with custom rules and everything. Also, make it not lag, that is what basically killed my interest in the online portion of the game.

Wii U/3DS Connectivty Exclusive Features

Wii U/3DS Connectivity

Since we are getting 2 games, why not have them have connectivity? I mean it's possible that each game will have exclusive content like stages characters and more. Being able to exchange data between the 2 can allow you to access all that exclusive content. Like in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, has you swap your Wii U data to the portable version to hunt on the go. If they can do something similar, that would be cool.

More Characters: SSBB

One of the awesome things about SSB is seeing who are the characters you'll be playing as. I mean it's always a deal maker or deal breaker to see if your favorite character made it in. I want to see as many characters as possible. Sakurai said that the game may have allt he characters who have appeared so far in the series, that's alot. But have some never before seen faces in the game too. Also, more third-party characters, Namco is helping you, add some characters from there. And if the rumor is to be believed, Sonic is in again as well as another Sega character. Maybe have a poll so we can vote on who we want to see.

Give me a good enough reason to wait for it:

SSB Dojo

We all know that Smash Bros games take a while to release, and while it make take some time before we actually play it, I want them to give me a good enough reason to wait for the game. I mean I am a very patient guy, but I don't also want to wait half a decade just for Smash Bros either. I just hope they add some much needed changes and enough content for the series to warrant that much time I'll be waiting. Maybe they'll release the 3DS version to help us wait for the Wii U version. I know Super Smash Bros. Dojo helped ease the wait, but I don't like spoiling my games, because if you think about it, we're just waiting for an HD version of these games.

So waht would you like to see in the next Smash Bros. games? Thanks for reading and later.

All would be welcome changes; I would especially be keen on the story/adventure mode being top-notch and including references to the top-tier characters' games at least.

That's exactly what I want from the story mode, and from what Sakurai said about it's story mode, it looks likely. Maybe he read my blog?

As long as we get the speed from Melee back, I'll be happy with pretty much anything they do. I'd say my only other wish would be for lesser known characters to make their appearance on the roster and have some very unique and interesting movesets. I think we can all agree that an Elite Beat Agent squad that danced their enemies to death would be magical.

They said the game will be fast like Melee which is great. And the Elite Beat Agents would be awesome! If not, as assist trophies. But more obscure characters would be cool too.

I specially agree with the online and characters. Although I had some fun when I found a match, I agree that it had a lot of lag and I would add that there wasn't much variety, except if you play with friends. More characters is self is exactly what it says.

I never had a problem with the tripping really, but I wouldn't miss it if they keep it off the next game.

The online lag put me off from the online portion of the game. I did have some lag free matches which was nice though.More characters and better online would be cool, and Sakurai said no tripping this time. Glad he took that out.

I heard that too, pretty interesting to say the least.
