16 years ago, Nintendo Power made a really cheesy but hilarious promo for Star Fox 64. If you were an NP member, you received this special video in the mail way back in 1997. My brothers and I were such members, so I have fond memories of watching this for the first time. It's hilarious. This pilot is captured and interrogated about a new Nintendo game coming out: Star Fox 64. It's funny that the two interrogators are wearing Sony and Sega shirts. If you've never seen this, you gotta watch it now. It's only 9 and a half minutes. The video may be cheesy, but it's all about one of the best games for N64.

Also, let's get a discussion going. It's sad to see that the Star Fox series is dead right now. How do you think the series should be revived? Do you personally want another Star Fox game? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks for watching.

Man that video was really cheesy lol. I miss those kinds of commercials. I would love to see a new Star Fox, but I doubt I'd have the system to play it on. Nintendo has a lot of great franchises that they aren't doing anything with which is sad. Maybe if they put out more games the Wii U wouldn't be struggling.

Amen! No star fox or f-zero games for the wii, which was disappointing. Those are two series that have seen nothing for many years. I hope Nintendo is not done with them.

So. I went to the StarFox64.com, and I was instantly redirected to the Nintendo website's Starfox 64 3D page. Just throwing that out there.. lol

Personally, I'd love to see a new Starfox game. I think that the WiiU's controller could pose for some interesting integration options in regards to the gameplay!

Right, a SF game for the Wii U would be great, and if Nintendo developed it (and not Namco or some other company), it could be a very good game. Here's hoping!

Oh man, I love this video so much. It's got so many great little moments. I watched this not long ago just for the fun of it Smile

As for a new Star Fox, they need to take the series back to its roots. They tried some interesting things in the games that followed SF64 (Adventure, Command, Assault) but not all that stuff worked out all that well. We need a new Star Fox that's just about flying around and blowing up evil monkey aliens and stuff.

Yes! No more on-foot missions! They need to stick to the flying levels as those have always been the best. And Landmaster is awesome too.

Nintendo mailed out a lot of VHS promo videos back then.

I remember getting ones for Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong Racing (crazy), Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, but I've lost them all since then. I'm sure you can find them on the internet. But yeah, lots of promo videos.

Lol Spoony riffed this live when I was at SGC 2013 a few weeks ago. I was dead tired and sort of drifted off at the end, but this I remember. Well, actually I don't remember what he said, but I was there when he riffed it. I don't know why the Sega guy has a Candadian/northern U.S. accent, though.

I would love a new on-rails Star Fox. I actually liked Adventure and I own a used copy of Assault as a birthday present, and that's a decent game too, but I'd want the series to just go back to its roots with some new polish.

Right, "its roots" being SF64, the best game in the series. I think to myself, "Nintendo HAS to have plans!" But you never know with the Big N, especially since they have enough franchises to worry about.

Well, I also mean SNES, I grew up with that too, but they're kind of the same thing and 64 was an improvement, especially graphically, so I see your point. It is a bit sad that's probably the only game in the franchise everyone immediately recognizes, but then again, that was the game I got for Christmas '97 with my N64; I love it.

As for their plans, that depends how SF has been selling, market research, yada yada, and I honestly doubt they'll go back to the Roots, when Star Fox was about following a black family through different periods of American history, so I probably wouldn't be sarisfied with the "mix of gameplay styles" style of gameplay they'd likely go with anyway.
