Get ready to wet your pants!

Okay, not really. Since today is Halloween, I thought I'd share a few creepy VG themes. Music can add so much to a game, and when the music is creepy, the tension and suspense of the moment gets drawn out even more than what the game is showing. Please enjoy these six creepy themes which I have chosen. Please understand, they're not "the top six scariest VG themes ever" or anything, just six of my favorite creepy themes from video games. Hope you enjoy, and have a great Halloween!

Lonesome Manor from Epic Mickey/Composed by James Dooley

This song has a lot of variety. It has its creepy moments, but it also has its more exciting parts. Dooley does an excellent job with the overall soundtrack to Epic Mickey; it sounds very movie-like. The creepy chimes add a lot to this song; it's subdued most the time, which gives off a feeling of suspense.

Ikana Canyon from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask/Composed by Koji Kondo and Toru Minegishi

Majora's Mask is a creepy game all around, but this theme in particular will send chills down your spine. Ikana Canyon is a very mysterious place, and the freaky music adds to that mystery. The deep voices, the flute, and the atmospheric tones all add to the creepiness. The song becomes more peaceful in the second half, but it doesn't last long, and the creepiness returns. MM is a creepy and dark game, perhaps even a good fit for Halloween.

Final Battle from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon/Composed by Chad York, Darren Radtke, and Mike Peacock

I love the bass piano in this song! It just says, "You're in trouble." This song builds up with tense strings and also has that neat ghost house vibe that is found in Super Mario World. I'm really glad King Boo was the bad guy in LM 2 and not Bowser. Anyways, this song is creepy and awesome. Once again, love the piano.

Another World of Beasts from Final Fantasy VI/Composed by Nobuo Uematsu

This song has always creeped me out. Its minor tone and eery flute are creepy enough, but the second half of the song brings in a shrilly flute and piano undertones. The whole vibe here is myserious and creepy, perfect for the setting in the game, in which you're learning about espers. Oh, espers. . . creeeeeepy.

Boggly Woods from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door/Composed by Yoshito Hirano and Yuka Tsuijiyoko

This song is surprisingly creepy for a Mario game. It's extremely simple, but the wind and the subtle sounds add to the eeriness. It really makes you feel like you're in some creepy woods. Twilight Town also has a good creepy theme, but this one is definitely creepier.

Battle with Giygas from Earthbound/Composed by Keiichi Suzuki, Hirokazu Tanaka, and Hiroshi Kanazu

This song is probably one of the creepiest VG themes ever. Giygas is an alien, and this theme fits him perfectly: alien, chaotic, weird, and plain creepy. The video here is all four forms of Giygas, and they're all weird, but they are also creepy. During the fight, Giygas' freaky face swirls around the screen, and man, can that face ever give you nightmares! The hellish colors and freaky music simply make this boss fight one of the most memorable in gaming history.

Majora's Mask really is a good Halloween game. It's creepy and that song is really creepy. I had to stop it half way through 'cause it was freaking me out.

MM is a dark game, by far the darkest of any zelda game. Hope you don't have nightmares now.

"The Moon's getting closer. Do you see it? One day it'll crash into us! I've got to tell everyone. The end is near! The Moon! The Moon is coming to destroy the earth! We must find the Ocarina of Time and the Majora's Mask! Everyone listen!" - What the... oh phew. It was just a dream.

It wouldn't be so bad if the face on the moon wasn't so freaky!

It's a scary game for sure.
