Hey guys, you know I like to do Retro Game of the Week each Saturday and look at an old game. Well I found out today that a brand-new Super NES game has just been released! You read that right. Some dude found an old program of a game back in the 90s that was never finished, and he got the rights to finish it. This particular game is called Nightmare Busters, developed by a French team what I hear. So this game, which was never finished before, is now being released for the first time ever!

This game looks awesome! You play as one of two leprechauns (one or two players simultaneous) as he sets off to destroy nightmares. The game looks and plays similarly to Contra, but instead of guns, these guys throw magic cards. The graphics look great (I always loved the 16-bit graphics of the SNES), the setting is really unigue, and the bosses are creepy awesome!

If you have a Super NES, I recommend you buy this game. All you have to do is go to nightmarebusters.com in order to buy a copy. How much? That part is a little painful. $70 will get you the game in its box along with the game manual (remember those?). Steep price, I know, but think about it: when was the last time you bought a brand-new Super NES game? Probably 1995! This is a rare opportunity, and this game deserves to be bought! It's totally worth it! I hope we can see more of this happen in the future. I've embedded below the video of the IGN guys playing this game so you can see it in motion. What do you think?

$70 is too steep for me, but it does look awesome. My older brother was the one who owned the SNES.

I was skipping around and heard Pikachu at one point, was that one of the guys' ringtones or did I dream that while awake?

The Pikachu sound was to cover up his swearing.

I'd be happy to support this, but there's only six levels, and $70 is pricey for a SNES cart. I didn't pay that much for Chrono Trigger, and that's my favorite RPG of all time! It's nice to know that people are still making SNES carts though. There was an article on here recently about a developer who's making a RTS game on NES.

I read about that game, and it's awesome to see people still developing games for these old but classic systems. I imagine the price is high because it's more expensive to put games into carts than discs, but I understand how that's a tough sell. If this game were a huge RPG, $70 would seem right, but for a game as short as this it seems kinda ridiculous.

I really want to get it too! Just save up for a couple weeks. This game looks to be better than most modern day games.

whoa.  Honestly, I would have been happy had time stopped moving and we were still stuck in the 16 bit era.

Me too! I miss those simpler times.

Well, this is a pleasant surprise! I knew the world needed more games star angsty leprechauns lol. Seriously, though, this looks really cool. The size of the sprites kind of limits how much action can happen on screen at once but it sure is pretty and certainly looks fun. $70 is steep but that was a typical price point at the time, and that's not accounting for all the inflation since then!

True, true, so it's worth it! I'm gonna get this game for sure, the only question is when.
