Return to The BaDlands #2 - I'm Never Going to Finish All My Steam Games

There are over 100 games in my Steam Library right now.

There are only a few games I've spent more than $20 on; the vast majority have been purchased for $15 or less. There are games that were sold by the dozen in crazy sales; I have pretty much every Sonic game available on PC because I got them all for $15. There are the Humble Bundle games, where paying above average (usually $5-6) gives you 5 or more games at a time. Then there's the stuff on my watchlist, which I'm ready to pounce on during the sharp discounts during seasonal sales.

I've probably only finished about 20% of the stuff in the list, if that. There are several games that came in bundles that are vestigial--where I just bought the bundles for one game and simply installed the others because why not? There's stuff in there that I don't even remember buying; for all I know, Gabe just slips random stuff into our backlogs just to fuck with us. It's a far cry from how I approached console gaming, where I had to really sit down and think about whether or not even used games were worth buying. Despite this, I keep picking up more and more stuff, as the cheap prices make it easy to justify the impulse.

And honestly? It really doesn't bother me that much.

Fact is, there were plenty of games I bought on consoles that I never finished either. And those would simply end up being traded in or sold off to fund more game purchases. If PSN had Steam-like sales from the beginning, I'm sure my backlog would've been just as bad--in fact, there are a bunch of PS+ games on my Vita I haven't gotten around to yet. Plus I like having all these games around, as it gives me plenty of readily available options to try new things when I'm up for it.

How big is your digital backlog? Do you think you'll ever be able to hack through it all? Let me know in the comments.

I have quite a few PSN games plus being a PLUS member and getting free games like Saints Row 3 I have an endless supply of games I will never finish.

My backlog of PS+ games isn't as bad as my Steam backlog, but I don't expect to finish all that stuff either. I'm already building a backlog of PS4 games with it and I don't even have the damn system yet, LOL.

my backlog is a little.... overwhelming.  but it doesn't bother me either.  I like having those games, and even though I haven't won many, I still enjoy playing them....

Bring on the Steam sale!!

I'm going to go apeshit once the next big Steam sale comes around, backlog be damned. :p

I have about 80 something games on Steam. I haven't finished half that number lol. Those damn sales are ridiculous and my willpower is weak. I don't mind though. Progress is being made. Especially now that I have a much more capable PC.

Well, it helps to look at things positively. :p

Well, my Steam backlog could be considered short (32 games), but back when I used my crappy desktop computer I had about half my backlog unfinished because of the PC performance, which got worse by the fact that sometime later on once I started a game (or just log to Steam), the sound of the computer mysteriously dissapeared and I had to restart to make it sound again. Fortunately, once I got my new trusty laptop, I can now play almost all the games I have, and I just have a handfull I haven't started. Still, I haven't finished any games except for Portal just recently.

That's probably the reason I have Spiral Knights, which I can't remember if it was a gift from the summer sale or a gift from a friend.

I have the Binding of Isaac and Joe Danger 2, but I don't remember buying either of them. It's like my Steam account is self aware or something...

I have 74 Steam games a few of which came from Humble

22 games on GOG

105 games from PSN

53 from the 3DS eShop

I'm not sure how many digital games I have on Wii, maybe 40

6 or 7 on the 360

So in short, far too many. LOL

I just signed up for GOG and immediately had almost ten games in my backlog. Not 'cause I bought them but because they're giving away free games.

Yep, they are good that way.

I'm getting more and more worried about having the same problem, as I have the same approach to you to Steam games. I think if I can get all of them out of my "Unplayed" section on Backlogger, I'll be happy.

Good luck, LOL.

I'm picking up Fable Anniversary in a few days and it will go right on the top of Mt. Backlog because me and MADKRAMMER are too into BaDerlands 2 at the moment. I considered not buying Fable and just adding it to my Wishlist, but I like owning some games. It's nice to have it around so I can jump in right away when the time comes.

That's the main reason having a backlong doesn't bother me so much. It means there's more stuff for me to play when I have time.

Backloggery.com is a godsend. I feel secure that my games will get played with such a great organizer to help.

Well I use to not have a digital backlog but thanks to Games with Gold it is slowly but surely building. I don't have a steam acount for this exact reason that I would have a massive backlog. I have a pretty big one on consoles but I can physically pick them up and finish them which helps me.

Nintendo is the only one left who isn't a backlog generating machine. $40-60 is not an impulse price point. :p

And I am completely okay with that. It is bad enough amazing games that don't sell well drop price so much. Or if I just hold out, play some backlog, the games I want will have price dropped completely.

My Steam library is currently sitting at 131.  I don't think that I spent more than $15 on a single game and I don't expect to finish the vast majority of it until I get a proper PC hooked up to my television.  Of that selection of games the only ones that I know I have beaten were finished on consoles and purchased a second time on steam because I packed away those consoles.

My digital backlog is growing.  It's not to the point that I have too many games I can't play.  Yet. Laughing  Thank goodness my PC isn't great for gaming.  I'd have hundreds of unplayed games for it too.

my digital collection is slowly building but so far I've been able to touch all of them in one form or another. Not sure how many I've beaten so I'll check on that. I'm hoping that now the newer systems are out the digital offerings on XBLA and PSN will get cheaper over time and have better sales.

My digital backlog looks a lot like my physical backlog, except that I don't have that many games from Steam.
