I've been gaming primarily on PC for the past year or so, and I absolutely love it. The performance is unmatched, and there's so much more flexibility to the experience compared to the console space. That said, that freedom and power come with drawbacks; it can get expensive very quickly, especially if you don't have a readily upgradable PC to work with, and it's a much more involved process to set everything up. It's all a question of what you want to get out of games, and how much time and money you're willing to pony up for it.

So my question: do you game on PC? Why or why not?

Yes. Steam is cheap and my games so far have run just fine.Tomb Raider still looks awesome despite my minimum-requirement graphics card. Well, actually, Fez does have an annoying blinking screen sometimes, I had to troubleshoot to get Arkham Asylum to work, and if it weren't so cheap, I wouldn't be cool with having to log into a service to access my paid-for content. Still, the pluses are greater than minuses so far.

I do want a PS4 and 3DS eventually, but another factor was that I upgraded my laptop last year for $400 and it can do pretty much anything and everything media consumption and production related I can think of, so that's cool. And when I plug in my 360 controller and my HDMI to the TV, it's basically like having a console.

I haven't played on PC in quite a while but I'm really missing it with all the interesting stuff I see there now on Steam and GOG. Any day now, I'll be back on playing Banner Saga and Clockwork Empires.

I don't game on my PC.  There are too many things to tweak to get a game working properly.  You can't even just buy a new PC and play older games on it.  I bought a new PC a couple years ago and I can't even play games like Mass Effect or even KotOR on it.   It's too much trouble when I can just buy a game for a console, stick it in, and play.  Can't beat that convenience.  The bonuses of the PC don't impress enough to deal with the other stuff.  I just want a PC I can play older games on (KotOR and Mass Effect).

I agree, I have a "good" PC and can play anything maxed out bascially. I still prefer consoles though. I have similar complaints to you where you have to optimize some games to get them to work properly. Not to mention if you buy a game from EA, you have to go through Origin, Ubisoft you have to go through Uplay, Steam through Steam. It gets annoying fast.

I prefer buying a physical game, popping in my console and going. Updates are the annoying thing about consoles though. But PC has those too.

I try but it hasn't worked out too well. I do have a whack of PC games.

This is probably gonna sound cynical and negative... but here goes. I have absolutely no interest in next gen consoles. The more I read about them, the less I want one. I was extremely disappointed with the PS3 and don't care for the direction that the industry is headed in. I read crap like the new Infamous having a 24 GB installation, or Dead Rising 3 getting a 13 GB patch, and it just makes me sick. PC gaming may have issues, but I'm incredibly thankful for Steam.

I did played PC gaming when I was a kid, but never advanced much on that. Then around 2011-12 I started using Steam and I fell in love, even with the crappy performance of my desktop PC. Then I had to stop because of a problem I had in my PC that made the sound of the computer mute everytime I entered Steam.

I was dissapointed, until I received my new trusty laptop as a graduation gift, which my dad upgraded with a better graphic and sound card, and about 99% of my Steam catalogue not only works, but runs fantastically. So yes, i'm oficially a PC gamer and i'm loving it!

I do not.  The barrier of entry is one reason, the other is that I prefer controllers.  Both of those issues aren't really a problem anymore.  I just need to make more of an effort to actually acquire a nice PC.

No I don't. I like the price I pay to play my games and I simply have to just put a game disc into the console and press start. I don't have to worry about hardware/software upgrades, graphics cards, controller mapping, driver updates or DRM.

Sure I'm missing out on what the PC is possible doing, but I like simplistic with my gaming.
